When I lived in Philly, I liked to spend time in the delightful Rittenhouse Square. My architect friend lived in an apartment overlooking the park, which derived form the German Rittenhouse (-haus) family, who went into paper and publishing. They were influential in Pennsylvania, and fanned out, to bring us descendants like the infamous, "Racist vigilante teen mass murderer," Kyle Rittenhouse.
If you really take in Philadelphia, it can change you - or simply improve you. You see the history, you see the honour, the culture, the significance - and it talks to you. So, I've written of a few meaningful experiences of mine in that central city, which I won't repeat here. But, I came away from the streets of Philadelphia, at the end of my rope, sick and dismissed, changed for the better. With a finer prism on right and wrong.
And my feeling is that the teen killer who's lineage descended from Philadelphia continues on as a kind of element of change, influencing the country. For the better, ironically, I suppose. The way the press blamed and labelled him, from the beginning, was obnoxious and unAmerican. I looked at what happened, and saw that it was clearly a matter of self-defense, all other things being considered. But, they corralled us into a trial, which has consequently been a flop for a foolish prosecution. It only brings more light to the irrational judgmentalism, cancel-culture, and related BS that has been going on for the last decade. You just cannot hold the truth down like a beach ball under water without it soon overcoming you and bursting back up into the light.
This kid on trial looks to me like the beginning of some kind of hero, and will make a strong representative or senator. Because he is sharp, he speaks straight, and he did nothing wrong. Wisdom is the preservation of innocence through adversity.
I could discuss this trial a lot more, but am seriously limitted on time, etc. So, I suggest you check out hour #1 and #2 from the happy-go-lucky
Chris Plante Show, as well as, at least, the first hour of the
Ben Shapiro Show. And, another strong voice in the wilderness, ringing out from Philadelphia, is
Mark Levin, who is
airing presently. But, if you are a Democrat, and a little shy, the best one to go with is Plante. (And besides, you know, there's that chance that you might be antisemitic. Of course, I'm not talking to any of my LJ friends, but possible some alien reader).
Or, if you prefer: You also have the right to silence.
