Just a Pause

My computer has been acting extra slow recently.  I discovered one reason for this.  My windows media player has been automatically updating my music files, eating up 20% of my CPU, on top of normal usage.  My CPU has been maxing out and getting stuck in some kind of loop.  I rebooted my media player, waited, and so far so good.  It pisses me off that it's trying to update because I arranged my settings, etc., to prevent this.  Because I keep my files my way, I don't want Microsoft changing things - e.g., deleting a albums many genres and replacing it with something like, "alternative."  I dread to think what might have happened to some files.  I hate Microsoft.  I spend so much time working on these files, and they try to come in and change things in just a few seconds.

Anyway, if the updating is held at bay, I should be commenting on LJ today.  Not that being online is still not slow, esp. on LJ.  But it should work a little better.  I might see if I can get my new computer working, and use that online - dial-up.  I've got WiFi sitting right here, $9/mo, waiting to be used.  I just can't get it to work.

So that's what I'll use my day for, plus working on some insurance thing that has a close deadline. Kitchen work.

Watched, "Say Anything, " and, "The Life And Death Of Peter Sellers," more later.   The later was outstanding for what it meant to do.

Heard the new giant white neighbours yelling in their house while I was out.  Maybe the kid was told to clean that area up and he never did, or something.  Down the street, a new girl was talking to a cop on the sidewalk.  A-hole Guy moved down there, so maybe he spreading his shit there now.  I craned my neck to catch the eye of that girl, because, if she's new and NORMAL, then we should chat.  Earlier, in that spot, it seemed like some woman was standing, calling my name.  Wasn't sure.  Maybe that was the beginning of the problems, and the woman who had talked to me about her dog now thought it would be fine to summon my help, to beat someone up or idk.

That's part of why this area is messed up.  You do something nice for someone, like give 'em a dollar, and you never see an end of it.  A-hole Guy's brother, as one example.  And, on the "bad cop" side of the equation, A-hole Guy keeps trying to intimidate everyone so he can get his way, and look at his tenants rebelling, passive aggressively, by leaving out their garbage, and then starting more problems for other neighbours.  I watch one shouting incident happen, and see it migrate through the hood, from one house to another, by completely unrelated people.  And people don't even see the stupidity of what they are involved in.  Crazy bald man downstairs, as another example.

Anyway, soon after I saw that girl complaining to the cop, a wall of darkness in the sky rolled in, and and the wind kicked up.  Loved it.  Sat with my dog on the steps at the end of my path, with the wind going wild, and people scattering.  Just sitting there like my life was just fine.  My dog was still alive.  "How old is you dog?!" shouted one guy from his car.  "10?  I don't know.  He's old."  (I need to go back in my journal and figure out how old he is).  The guy from the brick bungalow came out, seeing me sitting and looking in his direction, then realised I was watching the storm come in.  So, he emulated me.  Neighbours.  You can't live with them, you can get away from them, and they all pull together when god presses the "catastrophe" button.

My dog and I were just sitting there, in the eye of some kind of whirlwind, owning the neighbourhood, in our own quiet way.

See you later.

PS - My heart goes out to the beset Governor Slow-Mo, right out of my blouse - BOING!

my dogs - king, environ - weather and climate, cuomo - andrew, my neighbours
