I'm such a movie geek. Gah.
Now that the Golden Globe nominations are in and bunches of critic's circles and such have named their best films of the year, I'm ready to make my early predictions about what five films will be our Best Picture nominees.
Drum roll, please.
I predict that the nominees will be:

As for Clooney, I think his most likely wins are for writing and/or directing for GNGL.

I haven't seen any of those, not counting the couple that aren't out yet. Been such a bad movie year for me. Had always wanted to see HoV... and now with you talking bitTorrent, I do believe I might download it. Heh.
But this year, I don't know, I like that list you presented. There hasn't really been any mainstream movies that just blow you away. A lot of solid films, say, upper 80% type films on RT. But again, nothing spectacular like Million Dollar Baby was last year. I would say that BBM is probably the frontrunner as well.

I'm hearing a lot of people saying that BBM is one of those blow-you-away experiences.
Hmm...downloading HoV...I've got room for ONE movie on my hard drive. I could just keep DLing and watching one at a time. :-)
I've resigned myself to the reality that we won't find a BBM Torrent until this weekend when the release goes a little wider. :-(
Doesn't mean I'm not still stalking Torrentspy, though.

I know a few people who rip and encode movies and torrent them, which was why I said I might have a heads up on BBM. Maybe not though, they don't put everything up. Just if I do find out, I'll let you know.
I might go see KK here tonight, instead of working, haha. Depends, might not be an extra ticket since I told my friends that I was pretty sure I wouldn't make it. Finding out though, one of them is a manager at the movie theater they're going to and has the hook up.

The previews for History of Violence didn't move me, therefore I never watched it. I was a little surprised when I saw all of the rave reviews. Sometimes the good ones go under the radar. Marketing is so important with these things.
I was reading Yahoo! reviews of Brokeback Mountain yesterday, and I couldn't believe all the hate. From people who hadn't even seen the film, but were still giving it an F! They weren't in the majority, but they represent a very vocal undercurrent in American society. I just saw a story on CNN about it as well. The controversy itself may influence the Oscar decision. Not to say it isn't worthy, because I'm sure it is.
Dang, long comment.

Really? I went through the first couple of pages on Yahoo!Movies and every single person was giving it A's or A+'s. That must be why it has an overall B, because of a few asshats giving it F's.
Generally I've been surprised at the lack of general outcry over it. It was a lot worse for the Last Temptation of Christ.
Ah, let 'em hate. As time goes by the hating people just look stupider and stupider.

Sigh. I don't understand some people, I really don't.
