Awhile back, I was talking to a friend about music. He commented that all the music today is crap, that it's all vapid pop or crappy hip-hop. I was shocked, and I asked him what the heck radio stations he was listening to. Come to find out he's been listening to nothing but crappy Top 40 stations, no wonder he's despairing of the music scene ( Read more... )

Eisley is a really great band.

A local band just recently signed to Virgin here, and they're completely awesome and going to be big soon: The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.

Gorillaz is really good.

Jets to Brazil is a great band.

Q And Not U is a good band, but they just broke up.

And I think that Ted Leo is the god of indie rock, so you should check out Ted Leo & the Pharmacists.

Kelly Clarkson isn't really decent pop...excepting "Behind These Hazel Eyes." I would suggest Matchbox Twenty, Gwen Stefani, and The Black Eyed Peas. Howie Day, of course!

Hey. I like Kelly Clarkson. But I HATE Gwen Stefani.

But Black Eyes Peas...yeah, that's a possibility.

BEP BEFORE they went all sold-out, though. Back when they were political (unfortunately I can't cite songs or albums to help out... but early stuff...)

I agree, Black Eyed Peas completely sold out with this last album they released.

Funny you should mention this this morning. I just watched the video clip on TRL with Dan, and he was asked which band he thinks is going to be the next big hit. His reponse was a band called "Clap Your Hands Say Yeah". He thinks they're Canadian, but he was very excited about them.

I've also been introduced to some "Dan Music" myself, and have found that I enjoy The Bravery, Kaiser Cheifs, The Futureheads and Bloc Party.

For something a bit more mellow, I like Anna Nalick, and Gavin Degraw. Hope that helps. :)

*runs off to check on Clap Your Hands...*

Clap Your Hands are awesome. And yeah, I pretty much count on Dan to clue me in on what's new and interesting.

I finally downloaded Death Cab's "Plans" album and OMG it is so cracktastic. Every single song is brilliant.
