I am going to really try to post more. I often think to myself "Gosh, I'd like to post that on LJ" and then I forget.
Yesterday I had a very nice warm fuzzy thing happen. I have this friend who is lovely. We're not super super close but we share a common circle and I love seeing her and enjoy the time we spend together. She is getting married in a month. I got a save-the-date card months ago but hadn't yet received an invitation. This presented me with an etiquette challenge. Should I ask? Assume I'm not invited? I know that during wedding planning sometimes the guest list has to be revised and if I hadn't made the cut then I wouldn't be offended, I understand these things happen, and I'd wish my friend well on her big day either way. But I had been looking forward to attending. Plus other friends and I are starting to discuss fall plans (trips, etc) so I really sort of needed to know if I still needed to save that date.
I did a bit of an end-run for intel. I asked a mutual friend if she'd gotten HER invitation; she had. We agreed I ought to email the bride.
So I did, making sure to stress that if I had not made the final cut that I wouldn't be offended or angry.
She wrote me back right away, HORRIFIED that I hadn't gotten my invite. She said she wouldn't DREAM of me not being there and she was so glad I'd let her know. Yay! Now, this would have all become moot very soon as she was planning to email everyone who hadn't RSVPd to confirm their presence or absence, so I would have gotten an email. But it was still nice to hear that she wanted me there so much.
One of the perks of my new phone is that I can use the Netflix Streaming app with the wireless at work to play stuff while I work. I only watch things that I've already seen, because I really only listen to them and I don't want to have to actually pay attention since I'm, you know, working and stuff. Lately I've been watching Star Trek: TNG. I started doing season 3 in sequence but lately I've been bouncing around. It's interesting to watch it now. I haven't watched it in years.
I was never a Riker fan. But somehow, on this rewatch, I've come round to the belief that RIKER IS AWESOME. I am loving me some Riker.
