Baking on a Sunday

Don't you love coming home from being out to a house that smells like something cooking in the crock pot? Mmmmmm beef stew. With subtle undertones of chocolate cake.

I decided, on a whim, to bake up like four of the Too Much Chocolate cakes I posted about last week and take them in to work tomorrow. You know. For holiday cheer for those of us who are slogging through the upcoming workweek. I've done three so far. One regular, one with a little peanut butter added to the batter and peanut butter chips, and one with butterscotch chips. So far none of them are super different. My fourth one is planned to have crushed-up Andes Candies in it. That one might be different.

In other news, my sink is clogged up and the disposal isn't working. BAH.

Last night I went to see "Black Swan" with amandakcampbell. It was awesome in a scar-you-for-life sort of way. It was less freaktastic than I expected, though. Natalie Portman really was amazing. And I do love me some Vincent Cassel.

I can't believe how much more festive I've felt this holiday season just by virtue of having put up twinkly multicolored lights in my front window. I can see them from anywhere in the house and they make me smile. Happily I have no more holiday chores to attend to so I can just get ready for my trip to Reno this week. I might see if I can get in for a hair coloring. I am hoping to fit in an outing with rachet which we had planned for last week but then she got the plague. I really want to clean my room, it's getting a tad messy. I hate coming home from a trip to a messy room. I am resolved to pack the bare minimum for my trip. I don't need to dress fancy, it's just my family, they love me anyway, and it's only two days. I can probably get away with bringing one pair of pants, i.e. the ones I'll wear to travel. It's supposed to be fortyish in Reno next week so I won't need my big coat, I'll just bring a fleece. Yay for traveling light.

Hope everybody is surviving this last weekend before Christmas! Try to pace yourselves and not get too stressed out. Here, have some virtual cake. Baked with love in the Mad Kitchen.
