Last year, after the first big snow/ice downpour we had 93 accidents in Missoula.

On the news Friday night they said there were 47 accidents in Missoula.

Either Montanans are getting better at driving in snow or it's going to be a mild winter.

Hahahahaha!

The building inspector just drove up to our house, then did a U-turn and tore off. From the time I heard him pull up, to the time I walked to the window (in time to see him pulling the u-turn) was about 15 seconds. We just had an earthquake! In Montana!

I should find out if the Yellowstone caldera just blew. We have about 20 minutes left if that went off.

EDIT: Just tried to view the Yellowstone webcams. All of them are not available. Might be a configuration setting though, as I use Firefox.

The previous record for when Going-to-the-Sun Road opened was July 15th (1933).

According to the latest info on the Glacier NP website about 15 miles of it is still closed. Looks like another couple weeks.

You know you live in a small town when you are driving home and both talk radio stations you normally listen to have pre-empted their regular schedule to cover high school basketball.

Apparently here in MT we are having the "cold snap". Since arriving here we have had a period, once each winter, where the temperature gets really, really cold. It is -8°F here in Missoula right now, low was -10°F at 6am (With wind chill it is -17°F). The high today is supposed to be 3°F!!! I did not get a picture this morning, but I passed a house with a big tree in front. Most of the leaves were on the ground about 4-6 inches deep... and they were all still green! It's like the tree just went into shock and dropped all its leaves in one night.
