OK, so
labrat2 and I hit the storage unit today and partially loaded the trailer.
So far we have a gunsafe, 300# of ammo, about 30 other boxes of stuff. Probably about 1200# of our possessions. The truck drives like a wounded pig pulling that damn thing, so for those of you driving American suvs I now know how you feel.
While we were working, someone else was there getting some stuff out of his unit. He noticed that I was loading ammo (a little hard to hide those big metal cans of South African .308) so he comes up with this heavy box. He then asked if we would like some reloading supplies (I swear I live a charmed life!). In the box was about 30 pounds of bullets, some reloading dies, boxes of primers and some cleaned/primed brass (I think it was .38 Special). Laura was worried about the weight, but I was going "Hang on a second, let's think about this". We took it. It was from his brother-in-law, he had been holding onto the stuff for years and was glad to be rid of it.
Tomorrow morning we load stuff from the condo, and by 2pm we should be able to hit the road.
By nightfall we should be in Weed, CA (or at least to Redding) and then sometime Wednesday we will cross the DMZ into free America.
