"In the end, though, maybe we must all give up trying to pay back the people in this world who sustain our lives. In the end, maybe its wiser to surrender before the miraculous scope of human generosity and to just keep saying thank you, forever and sincerely, for as long we have voices."

Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

I was in tears after writing 3 Thank You cards last night. People were way too generous and giving and loving and I am overwhelmed by people's efforts. Whether it be monetary, effort, volunteer work, words etc. It all is just too much and I had a hard time to control my emotions after writing a card to my aunt from Vermont who made the trip AND gave a very generous monetary gift--and I know times are hard and giving that much just doesn't seem right! I have all these thoughts that we don't deserve that type of giving or attention and I think constantly about how to "repay" people for their kindness and its just overwhelming. But, reading that quote up there, helps me to feel better about it all. I will make sure to send love to all and maybe if I live by that rule (or continue to) I will be complete and worthy.

gratitude
