Vision on Patents

Patents/Copyrights/TradeMarks/ServiceMarks....huh and what not. I used to perceive these as the glamorous things. Yes they are ..put in right words they are perceived as glamorous. Now what are patents? It is junk thing which you claim as you have discovered..sometimes genuine..sometimes perceived from observing the things..sometimes claiming you have discovered when the original discoverer has not patented.. As it happened with Apple for their iPhone . Cisco sued Apple, as term "iPhone" was already trademarked by Cisco. So in partial conclusion another way of making money.
Now look at who is at advantage when a patent is filed? It is obvious that if you are working for a private owned company, the company shall have the complete ownership of the patent. Finally it is not the inventor who is earning, rather it is the company!!! Bingo....it is YAMMI--> "YET ANOTHER MIDDLE MAN INDUSTRY"!!!! I got to patent this word "YAMMI".
Take a look at the patents..Are they really deserve to be patented...Take a look at the count..right around 9 million patents under the SUN. Huh..number looks big, but according to me it is small. 90% of the patented things are junk which are obivious. I donno what is the criteria the patenting organisation is following. The three things which comes to my mind are
1. New
2. Not Obvious
3. Usefullness
Everything seem to be patented, As I browsed through almost everything surrounding me is patented, design of chair, mouse, laptop, shirt button, huh..and what not.So Under the SUN do we have only 9 million eligible to be patented?
Okay lets look what exactly is patenting...The rule of patent says you have span for your idea. The validity of your patent is for 20 years. Your idea can be used by anybody after 20 years. It is no longer your idea after 20 years..
Everyone is aware ideas do not die...but the patent organisation kills your idea..Still do you wish to patent your idea?
Yes Why not? Someday i can sue others to survive on earth within the span of 20 years.
But yes there is an option to renew it. It will be available for public. That's the reason the some ideas deliberately are not patented. Coke has not patented it's flavor formula yet..Because they are sure of running more than 20 years..and they do not wish anybody to know about the formula...Still do you want to patent your idea?Yes I can beautify my resume.
Thatz the last obvious thing. It gives some sense of achivement. Something done by me is documented for public.

patent, invention, discovery
