CPT #2 - University of Cape Town, Cape Town Stadium, Century City

Mar 23, 2011 00:56

The day when I was mesmerised by the beauty of Cape Town Stadium...

It was my first time bringing more than 2 pairs of footwear overseas and here we have our shoes all lined up neatly near the entrance of the apartment suite.

We started laying out our toiletries in the bathroom, opened up our luggage and placed our clothes in the wardrobe, ready to live in this comfortable hole for the next 7 days to come!

And yes, this is my room mate for the 8 days in Cape Town - Trishy whom I shared the queen bed with, sometimes we take a little more than 1/2 of the quilt that is supposed to be fairly 'divided', we can't be quite bothered about who snored louder because we were too zonked out by the end of the day.

A morning view out of the suite's window.

Us ready for breakfast at around 8am in the morning daily, just in time to meet everyone in the lobby at 8.30am!

This is how the hotel looked like on the exterior and its pool deck.

Time for continental breakfast! Scrambled eggs, roasted mushrooms or tomatoes, too salty bacons, choices of ham, fruits and etc.

Out to the streets... and so this is really what they call 'a mountain in the city center's backyard'!

We visited the University of Cape Town which was such a huge campus and it really felt like we were in some Gossip Girl drama because students were laying on the grass and sitting by the stairs, like how we'd see them in American dramas. We were basically there to understand more about Cape Town's tourism and current situation though through a meeting session with various partners.

A random photo with a Capetonian cleaning attendant whom we invited to join the photo. I promised her I'd send her this photo, she left me her address and maybe receiving that photo may just be that life changing moment for her.

And hold on, free condoms in restroom?! Now that's new for us, Singaporeans!

Next up was the world-class attraction of Cape Town, none other than the Cape Town Stadium. I've been doing research on this attraction/ facility ever since we've embarked on our project and I must say, I really love it (no idea why), most probably because of its structure. I got so excited when we stepped foot into it, I couldn't wait to snap my own photos of this beautiful structure.

Here you go, a photo of the Cape Town Stadium!

Alright just kidding! Cape Town Stadium, why you so beautiful?

I really really really went to Cape Town Stadium, see see see!

Time for shopping so we visited Century City a self-contained land with accommodation, shopping mall, theme park. The shopping mall was named Canal Walk and they even had a visitor information centre with guided tours around the shopping mall... I don't remember Singapore shopping malls having that, IMM?!

This store Mr. Price had the cheapest clothings and shoes, somewhat like Cotton On.

I bought these as souvenirs back home, they are now sitting in the living room and my bedroom comfortably!

Enough shopping (no I didn't buy a lot) and it was time to head back to the hotel!

It's dinner time again! We were brought out to a nearby cool restaurant this time round. Oh did you see my new bag made out of plastic license plate and rubber? Imagine having to buy that in Singapore, it would have cost me a bomb of maybe at least near a hundred, but I bought it at only SGD20 plus - happy buy!

Officially seeing the night in Cape Town.

Neighbourhood Restaurant Bar & Lounge was where we settled our dinner at. Nice decor, ambience and not too crowded. Great place to chill out either indoors or by the balcony. Best burgers around.. that I'm not quite convinced though.

Some stayed to down a few more drinks whereas most of us decided to head back to snore and be ready for yet another exciting day tomorrow!
