- I got a notice about a week ago that, because I have a paid account, lj would be taking money from me. So...it's probably about high time I get back to using the old lj, right? I mean, I've been kind of lurking around and commenting here and there, but I'm sorry lj. We've been through some great times and I've met great people, but I have a new internet love of my life and his name is tumblr. I will try to appreciate you both the same but...we'll see how it goes.
- In any case, while tumblr is all shiny, fast, and convenient, the thing that lj has going for it is the interactions. The comments, the icons, the more personalized details of people's lives, the more in depth fandom write ups/reactions (which is basically what I use it for).

Um, I didn't expect to love this movie as much as I did. I mean, the trailer had me interested and after awhile, everyone was saying how good it was, but then I actually saw it and it was like WOW, IT WAS SO GOOD.
From just a nerdy, i've-taken-a-few-film-classes-so-i-kind-of-know-what-i'm-talking-about perspective, the photography of the film was just so fucking gorgeous, I could've cried. The edits were outstanding - nothing ever feels like a flashback and I love, love, love that you walk away still not really knowing what happened. You have an idea, but at least three or four stories have been told and while it all makes sense, there's still a sense of wonder. I. LOVE. THAT.
You know what else I love? Andrew Garfield. Holy shit, that was a hell of a performance. I don't even know if I have the words to describe how much I loved his portrayal of Eduardo Saverin, but it was just amazing. The chicken bit! Something that was so light hearted and funny and then it just became so painfully real when he referenced the trout and the marlin. Oh god, the whole juxtaposition between his relationship with Mark and the wariness of Sean Parker's role in everything - it was just perfect. PERFECTION. I really want him to get the Oscar nom - I don't think he'd win, but that performance needs validation.
Jesse Eisenberg was pretty awesome too. I want to say that he's kind of stuck in the same acting pattern's as Michael Cera is, but the more I think about it, that's just completely wrong. His performance was a lot more nuanced than I think a lot of people will give him credit for and I think after watching the movie a couple times, I will love it more and more. But I think what surprised me most was how much empathy I felt for the guy and that's a credit to Eisenberg for sure.
Justin Timberlake! Let me say first how surprised I was that the real Sean Parker, creator of Napster, was even involved in Facebook at all. Like, that legitimately surprised me. But after that, I thought Justin did a pretty decent job. It's nice to see him in something other than SNL or some random indie movie that no one's going to see (or the Love Guru - but who saw that? NO ONE). I mean, watching him on screen wasn't like "omg Justin!" so kudos to him. I believed that he was Sean Parker and that was enough for me. I also love the irony that he got that role (oh universe, you're just so perfect sometimes).
Sorkin writing! I forgot how much I missed it - he clearly set the tone for the entire movie within the first five minutes with clear, concise, intelligent writing and it never lagged throughout the movie. I miss seeing/watching smart stuff in my entertainment. So much of television and cinema these days is just so dumbed down and every once in awhile there's this breath of fresh air of intelligence and I just wish there was more of it.
Anyway, fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. Can't wait to go see it again.
