Thank you, I'm so happy that you enjoyed it! I loved Mary in this episode and Sam Smith did such a wonderful job with everything they asked her to so. Such a nuanced and subtle performance.

\o/ Our Show is back and it's awesome!!!

Thank you! Drabbles are hard, but I like the challenge and it seemed fitting that this was should focus on Mary, especially after her dramatic return!!! *hugs*

She seemed so lost there at the end, quiet with her hands clasped in the back seat she was grinning over just hours before. She didn't want this life for her or her children and now she's smack dab back in the middle again. And Dean is nobody's cuddly baby and a hunter to his bones. And when she meets Sam she'll learn the same thing. I really feel for her right now and this drabble made me feel even more sympathetic.

Yes, exactly!!! She's caught between a past she left behind, and a future that she never really wanted; for herself, or for her boys. I think Sam Smith caught that trapped feeling so well as she was looking at her hands and out of the impala window towars the end of the ep, you could really feel Mary's predicament.

Thank you so much for stopping by, and I'm really happy that you enjoyed the drabble. Take care :)

I'm loving that people are being inspired to give us Mary POV! This is wonderful.

Thank you! I truly find her fascinating, especially the beautiful silent scenes Sam Smith gave us; those moment of reflection as she stares at her hands, and out the windows of the Impala at the end. It feels like she's torn, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of her.

Thank you for stopping by. Take care :)

Sam's acting was top notch, and your drabbling caught that nicely.

Yes a wonderful drabble to start the new season!! Love this so much <3 and it's wonderful to see Mary on the show again and how much depth she brought - such a great character. I'm excited for the next episode - love that second last line btw, sums things up perfectly ...stay and protect your family, or leave to protect your soul.

Thank you - I'm so happy that you enjoyed it!! I too am really looking forward to seeing that they have in store in Mary, and it was such a treat to see her, especially her interactions with Dean.

That line really stuck with me too; it feels like she's trapped somewhere between two lives again; to hunt, or to leave. We know she's been here before, and that she never wanted this for her boys, so I do wonder what will happen.

Thank you for reading and for stopping by. take care ♥

re: What I said about how it felt to read these Mary drabbles in retrograde--omg, this is the most perfect ending to the cycle. I love the rhythm of this, the stark images, the lack of confusion or haziness, and just a sequence of hard, roil-in-your-stomach realities. Ahhhh. <333 I wasn't really sure what the point of bringing Mary back in 11x23 was, but I'm really enjoying thinking through it via fic, and reading fic, and canon. Thank you for all of these snapshots into Mary's head!

You're so very welcome, and thnak you for taking the time to go back and read them all. When you look back, knowing what we know now through canon, they really have fleshed out Mary so well in such a short space of time.

At this point, all Mary has is hard-facts, and it's all very 'new' to her - she hasn't even met Sam yet, and Dean would be so different from what she wished and hoped (which is so difficult for them both!!!) It was a pleasure to get inside of Mary's head, and after writing her POV for summergen, I just couldn't resist. Thanks again for all your kind words and thinky thoughts ♥
