Knock, knock.
I stood there for about 2 minutes.
Knock, knock.
No answer. Shit, I really needed to talk to him! I called Jess up to ask her if she could ask Micky for Max’s number. She said she would call me back.
“Hey Sof. He gave me the number. You got a pen?” She asked.
I wrote the number down on the back of my hand and opened my cell phone. I dialled in the number, but before I pressed talk I took a few breaths.
Ring, ring. Ring, ring. Ring.
“Hello?” He said.
I froze. I had no idea what I was going to say.
“Uh, hi. Its… Sofia.” I said sighing.
“Oh, hey.” He replied. How awkward. “How are you?”
“I’m… alright. How are you?” I asked.
“I’m, not so good.”
“Oh, why not?” I was confused. Why was he saying that? He’s the one who betrayed me!
“I messed up.” He sighed. “Big time.”
“How so?” I asked though it was obvious.
“I hurt the person that means the most to me.” He replied.
“That’s too bad.” I said going along with it.
“I’m really sorry Sof. It really didn’t mean anything. I wish it didn’t happen. I didn’t mean for it to happen. I just heard her crying and I went to comfort her and then--”
“Max, its okay I don’t want an explanation. I have been thinking about what happened the past 2 days, and I decided that I don’t own you. We weren’t a couple so I shouldn’t have been so mad, its your choice. I’m not going to tell you that you cant go kissing other girls. But if you do chose me, then I don’t want you going off with other girls. I really like you, and I don’t want to fight. So if you say you didn’t kiss her and that she kissed you and it didn’t mean anything than I believe you. I want to forget this as much as you do.”
“Where are you?” He asked. “We need to talk about this face to face.”
“Um, I’m at your house.” I said a little embarrassed.
“Okay, well I’m gonna come get you and we will go out for lunch or something okay?”
“Okay, sounds good.” I said smiling.
“See you in a bit.”
“Bye.” I said before hanging up.
I felt so much better. It felt good to get that off my chest. And I couldn’t wait to see him.
He pulled up and got out of the car. He walked around to the other side of the car and opened the door for me. I got into the car and so did he. He started up the car and looked at me.
“Look, I really am sorry. And I promise, it will never happen again okay?”
“So your choosing me?” I asked. “You know what that means. No more kissing random girls.”
“She wasn’t just a random girl. That was Kyung-Soon, my ex-girlfriend. We were dating for a year. And she cheated on me so I broke up with her. The reason she was crying at the barbeque was because she saw how happy I was with you. I heard her crying and I went in there to tell her to leave and that I was happy with you and that I didn’t love her anymore. She got mad and jumped on top of me and just started kissing me. I promise I didn’t feel anything. I don’t want anyone but you. Sofia, you’re the only one for me.” He said smiling. “And yes, that means I am choosing you.”
I smiled and blushed. He laughed and brushed my cheek with his hand.
“I love your smile. Your beautiful.” He stopped smiling. “Are we okay?”
“Yes, were okay.” I said. I wanted to cry, happy tears.
“Can I kiss you?” He said embarrassed.
“Of course. Now that you’re my umm…” I couldn’t finish my sentence.
“Boyfriend?” He finished it for me.
“Uh, yeah. Now that you’re my boyfriend, you don’t have to ask to kiss me, okay?” I said smiling.
He smile and leaned in. He was very gentle when he kissed me. Like I would shatter into a million pieces like a glass doll. Kissing Max was the most amazing experience in the history of the world, well to me it was. He made me feel like I was on top of the world. And I loved it. I hoped that feeling would never go away.
He pulled his face away.
“So, where do you want to eat?”
