So yeah, it's been a bazillion years since I updated this thing. I'm sure people have left me for dead, but alas, I disappoint them yet again! Just kidding, but yeah, I've been terrible about updating.
There is no way I can summarize the last few months in here w/o typing for the next three days; just know that Winter Quarter was ridiculously stressful, I dunno how I came out alive, and w/ decent grades too, considering I thought I'd be getting Cs across the board. Not one C. Woot! That definitely made me happy, and feel good about my ass-busting skills paying off.
I am in SB for the summer this year, and I'm SOOOOO excited!! I'll be working and getting Span6 out of the way. My job is with the Campus Conference Services, and I am a Guest Service Representative. Over the summer, the residence halls are turned into Conference housing; my job is a less formal 'hotel consierge', desk attendant person. So yeah, I'm excited. I'm subleasing from one of my sorority sisters; it's sucha sweet deal. Where more people are subleasing anywhere $550+, and regular rent is $650+, I am paying less than both of those. So nice.
I delayed my studying abroad plans until my senior year. I supposed to be heading off to Galway this August. It's for the better though, I don't regret my decision to wait in the least. And ironically enough, Ireland came to me this summer! Groups of Irish college students have flocked to UCSB and IV for the summer; it's so awesome! There are a few girls subleasing in the house too, and I have befriended them. They're so sweet. I met a few of the Irish boys subleasing from the frat next door, some cute ones as well, mind you, and they're just as nice. They're awesome to chill w/. My identity became known w/o me ever planning to bring it up unless asked. In conversations w/ Rame, he informed them of my Irishness. The only thing the guys asked me not to do was tell them what peprcent Irish I was. I was shocked; I had no intentions of doing so, because dammit, I'm Irish enough to not have to worry about what percentage I am in order to be authentic. I told them this, and they took to me as one of their american cousins rather quickly, trying to teach me to talk in an irish accent, haha. Apparently, when they have encountered random SB girls, and they learn that the guys are Irish, the girls tell them what percent they are. Dear god people! they don't care! even worse, others girls don't believe they're irish @ all; they think it's an act. stupid american guys trying to pull off an irish accent and now the girls don't believe the real thing when they see it. stupid.
other than that, just getting settled into my summer room, and job training all this week. CPR/First Aid was today, so i am certified in both now. woot.
alright, back to unpacking i go...
