“I can’t help it.” She whispers quietly, a fresh pool of tears in her eyes.
“I know.” He murmurs, “I know.” He presses a chaste kiss to her forehead and says “it’s just...god, I hate seeing your cry. I hate it! It never gets any easier and it never makes you feel any better. I wish I could make things better for you.”
“You can.” Addison says quietly. She sits up level with him now. Her face is inches away from his, and he knows already how the night is going to end. Even with her hair a mess and her mascara running she still manages to cause a familiar ache inside him when she lick her lips and slowly presses her mouth against his. She tastes like alcohol and tears and he runs his fingers through her soft red hair, taking hold of it lightly to pull her closer to him.

“I don’t want you to leave. I don’t...don’t want you to go back to him. To someone who makes you cry.” It’s dark and he doesn’t look at her, but in the hushed room it feels like he’s shouting the words.
“I have too.” She says. “But next time he makes me cry I’ll come back.”
“At least you're honest” he mutters petulantly. It isn’t the answer he wants, but he takes it anyway.
He always needs her to come back.
