Mom's still in the hospital - - her fluid level(?) - - however they measure fluid retention - - was 1000 when she went in Monday. It's down to 500 as of this morning. But, she has pneumonia, too. And she wants to go home, and she keeps going outside in 30 degree weather to smoke

I have got to ask -- is the desk a modern reproduction or an old solid wood one? If it's made from real wood, I think you got one of the deals of the century.

As for your mom, well, it occurs to me that part of the reason she's so mean to you is that she resents being in the position she's in, having to admit to the reversal of roles. I mean, really, these days you're the parent and she's the little kid complaining when she doesn't her way.

I think you're right about that. She's opened up a bit more the past few days and says she feel frustrated she has to rely on others so much.
