(I should really be sleeping.)

I was just thinking (as you do when you're watching what turns out to be an ultimately unsatisfying movie) that I kind of prefer a lot of movies at the stage where they're setting up the characters and environment and feel. You know? And then the plot happens and it's stupid. And maybe it's my European upbringing (that sounds like what follows will be really snotty, I know, but BEAR WITH ME) but I think I would be pretty happy if they just skipped at least half of the plot. You know, because I'm used to movies where nothing much happens. (Also: Moomin books.)

For example, the pilot episode of Friday Night Lights is pretty much my favorite. Because it's just about introducing this incredibly rich cast of characters and community and nothing at all happens until very late in the game (hah). See also: why I really wanted the Pevensies to bicker about their mushy sandwiches at the start of Prince Caspian.

OK, now I'm going to bed. Really.

movies, friday night lights, moomin, narnia
