"Yes, destiny has her hand on my back, and she's pushing."
The Tick
So, apparently, I have done a very poor job of keeping up with my journal in the past couple years. And quite honestly, that isn't a surprise as I start writing this post, erase and start writing it again. I've got nothing. I'm frozen in an apathetic stupor.
2010 was a year of heart break and headaches, challenges and chances and four different addresses.
6454 Orleans Ave., New Orleans, LA 70124
15 Camden Court, Mandeville, LA 70471
4619 NE 112th Ave., Apartment B105, Vancouver, WA 98682
8801 Monticello Drive, Apartment 197, Texas City, Texas 77591
I took a gamble on life and still am not sure of the outcome and barreled through barriers.
Looking back at previous journals, I haven't actually made any New Year's reflections or predictions since 2008. So, in 2008, I said I wanted to:
Get a New job (check)
New location (city) (check)
Better pay (check)
Eat at Melting Pot just once (not yet)
Take small mini trips (mmm. I'll go with a check)
Frame, sort pictures and posters (x)
Buy new car (x, but this is definitely the top of my list now)
My 2008 New Year's Resolution: Stop procrastinating (good enough)
and my New Year's Goal was to Write more - short stories, poetry, thoughts, randomness, whether it be for the mass media audience, just myself, just my friends or letters to individuals. (I did not accomplish this obviously at two years later)
In reflection of 2010, I feel that all though, slow moving and possibly a failure, I did attempt to achieve my goal for a good job in a big city. Through that failure, I accomplished getting a better job than I had before (well, better pay. The jury is still out on its awesomness), plus I moved out of Louisiana, and I lived out a lifetime dream of taking a road trip through the western United States. I'll count that as life moving forward.
So for 2011, and apparently a couple days late, I will once again make a list of goals.
My resolution is to not start smoking, eat better, take advantage of the work out facility at the apartment complex.
Goals for 2011
- Cook more using recipes I have never used
- Take some sort of class, whether it be art, marshal arts or computer design
- Join a meetup group or book group
- Possibly get a cat
The bar isn't too high, I should be able to get at least half of that for at least some part of the year.
