Well, I shall be living in Gifu. 80 miles from Osaka, 30 miles from Nagoya, and 160 miles from Tokyo. Average temperature 60F. Unless you count the freezing winds from the surrounding mountains. Freezing winds. Gifu is the historical home of Oda Nobunaga. 0_o ( Read more... )

. . . about to write an encouraging response about how the unexpected can be the doorway to adventure and fun, but then I remembered that you dislike the unexpected and that kind of threw a wrench in my whole scheme.

So, on to my back-up encouragement: "Gifu" is a funny word!

I think that, once I get over this initial shock, Gifu will be a good experience. I just need to re-evaluate my plans and goals for this year and go from there.

On the plus side, Gifu is the historic home of Oda Nobunaga so at least there is history in the area. :)

Yeah and skiing is fun! That alone should make it worthwhile right? And you can always visit the other places. I *live* in Tokyo and I'm so busy half the time it won't be until a good vacation that I really get to goof off here anyway.

Yeah, after the intial shock of it I've gotten used to the idea. I just have to change my plans is all... nothinig major. Besides, what kind of adventure would it be if everything went according to my plans? :)
