Hooray! Odds are, I'll be getting an entirely new computer. The one I have is a very old Dell, and the problem is the video card is a PCI card, (I think) and it's very old and fussy. We tried to update it, and the computer went crazy. Apparently it can't go any higher than Radeon 9250 and Intel(R) 82865G. Anything more is just too much for it. As a result of this, most computer games I play, (City of Heroes/Villains being a big one) have to have their graphics display turned down or other wise the whole computer freezes up. There has sometimes been problems with the Sims, as the card will freeze up and stop working, making my whole screen blank. It's very annoying.
People and computers are like hermit crabs and shells. We outgrow one and half to move to a bigger (better, faster) one.
I remember my first sims2 computer. It didn't even have a separate video card, only one that piggy backed off the motherboard. All my sims had mitten hands and village of the damned eyes. And larger houses/families made it crawl. I remember thinking "what's the hype about this game, it sucks". Then I got some good equipment and, well, we can all see what THAT lead to.
