I cannot bear the sound of a baby crying at all right now. It just reminds me that all of the little miracles of birth must all come to an end one day. Life begins, life ends, just like that. Once someone is gone you can't bring them back. Life is too short like a song that you can't play again.
I have just come back from my brother in law's funeral.
My plane landed in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday and I came back to LAX, yesterday, Tuesday. I had to book the flight a day before I left and that made it hard to avoid outrageous prices. Every non-stop flight to Atlanta was $400.00 and up. After three hours of mouse click madness, I found a flight for $260.00.
This is where my sister and brother-in-law's website is:
Cabins
Many people showed up at his funeral and his wake. All of his friends were there. Only one person in his immediate family is living today and that is his brother Sal. Sal's wife and son came out for a shorter visit. He is still staying with Leslie being helpful. His two nephews were there for a few days too. All of my siblings were there. Karen, Robert, Gloria and her husband also called Sal.
Marion, her long-time friend from London, whom she knew from a former job in L.A., was there for a week. She and I were cleaning my sister Leslie's house and had many tea breaks and talked about different things. Marion did not seem to agree with some of the things that I said that were only meant to be the light hearted chatter that does not have be 100% precise. She didn't know what I meant when there was an historical connection between Essex or Southend and the pilgrimage to America. Well Marion, this is what I was trying to mention but thought you already knew...
http://mayflowermorris.com/history.htmShe said she lived in Southend so I thought she might know about the history. She likes historical novels as does Leslie. In fact we all do. Marion is a good friend. I told her that we could adopt her as an aunt.
I spent most of the trip in the red Harrington jacket I bought on EBay, which resembles James Deans famous jacket. I bought it for Laura as a Christmas gift but since she didn't take it to Australia with her she said it was okay if I wore it.
It only rained on saturday, the day of the funeral. The rest of the days were clear and sunny but with low temperatures in the 50's range.
