I am stuck in a dilemma of urban versus rural

Today the air smelled like mulberries. I don't think it was actually the scent of mulberries, but just the spring smells I associate with mulberry-picking. I've always thought I'd like to live in an apartment so I wouldn't have a yard to upkeep, but on the other hand I would be sad if I was never able to grow my own rhubarb or mulberry trees.

At my old house, every spring my sisters and I used to go into the backyard and pick mulberries. I didn't actually like them that much. It was just a fun activity. How often do you get to eat fruit right off the branch these days? Then, one year, I discovered something that made it all the more rewarding: They taste best when they aren't yet ripe. I don't mean when they're still white or lime green, but when they're light or deep pink, before they turn into the bland juice of a dark purple mulberry. They're tart and crunchy.

This means that I can't buy mulberries from the store to satisfy my nostalgia cravings, because what stores stock unripened mulberries?
