A gardeny kind of day

 It didn't start out that way--it was supposed to be a projecty kind of day, but I decided to run an errand to the drug store that turned into running by Sears because it was close to see if they have the weed whacker I want (they didn't) which turned into running to the fireplace store because they were just a few more exits down the freeway (bought a log set for the fireplace for when I eventually get it piped for gas), which led me to the garden center that was just a couple exits down an adjoining freeway because I had read in the paper that they had hanging flower baskets on sale and I'd just had Dad put up some new hooks for me yesterday while he was waiting around for the woodworker guy to install some sash locks on my living room windows. Whew.

Anyway, the flower baskets were kinda sad, so I didn't get any, but I found lotsa other stuff that I dragged home and planted, including:

2 golden poppies (I've already got some growing in the cracks in my sidewalk, so I figure they must be hardy and I have a patch of really bad dirt near the garage that needed something ... besides weeds, that is)

2 salvia (because bees dig them)

2 tomatoes (a Black Prince and a Golden Mandarin)

Thai basil

Sweet basil

Bicolor Sage

Dill

Oregano

Rosemary

I also have a whole flat of ornamental strawberry to plant under the garden bench, but will do that tomorrow

I also pulled a metric ass-ton of weeds out of the strip of ground behind the garage (about half of what's back there)

Pooped, I say!
