A couple more movie reviews.
Caleb and I were supposed to hang out Wednesday night but he couldn't make it down due to a lost pair of keys. Therefore I was able to attend
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire with my parents and sister for my sister's birthday. I've only ever seen the first Harry Potter movie previously. After this one I don't particularly care to see any others. The movie itself wasn't particularly bad. I just hated the story. And I couldn't help but want to punch
Rupert Grint any time I saw him on screen. Such a fuggly kid. Anyway, if you liked the other Harry Potter movies and books this'll probably be worth your time. I however don't recommend it.
On the note of my sister's birthday... We went out to a chineese buffet. I like chineese buffets. But as a vegetarian they absolutely suck. It is depressing how much tasty looking food I can't eat. It's the only time I've been tempted by the meat.
On to more movies!
Caleb DID come down last night and so we headed over to Jordan Creek to see
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Delightful! I had a big grin on my face from start to finish. This did for me what I was hoping The Producers would do. While I was able to enjoy the movie as a great story with good acting and generally good special effects I was also able to enjoy remembering the BBC movies which I grew up with. I don't know why all the nay-saying was about with this movie. Some of the special effects with the animals looked cartoony, but I was very impressed by the majority of them. The children were quite good and special props go to
Georgie Henley for being the cutest little girl and for being a far better (child or otherwise) actress than the likes of Haley Joel Osment or Dakota Fanning could ever dream of being! Overall the movie rather true to the books (as far as I can tell) and managed to even have some amazing epic battles - all without showing a single drop of blood, only some dried knicks and cuts on peoples' faces. I didn't even realize they had done that either! Caleb mentioned it at the end of the movie. There were only two spots where I found it awkward.
I definitely recommend it and look forward to the next installments.
Until then, however! I bought the original BBC series on DVD! After mail in rebate it's only 20 bucks. While I'm not looking forward to dealing with the rebate I decided it would still be worth it.
After the movie Caleb came back and we hung around talking for a while before hitting the sack.
I'm still working on getting work off for tomorrow. If I don't I'm not sure what I'm doing for New Years.
