“Ikuta-chan~” Shintaro called desperately. “Seriously, what did I do now??” He asked.
Ikuta Erina sighed, shaking her head. “You really don’t know what you did?” She asked doubtfully.
“I’m utterly confused.” Shintaro deadpanned. “What is it? Why is she treating me this way??” He pouted.
Erina sighed again and looked at the two girls across from them, chatting animatedly. Not once did Riho look their way since getting on the train. Even their senpai, Kanon-neechan, was already looking perplexed at Riho’s attitude.
They had always ridden the train home together from their respective jimusho. Before, it was just their senpai and Morimoto Ryutaro. When Fukuda Kanon found out Erina and Riho also go the same way, though, she invited them to go home together. When Ryutaro stopped his activities with his band, it had just been the three of them. But then, two months ago, Morimoto Shintaro started going home with them. That wasn’t very surprising since Erina heard from Kanon-neechan that before they came along, Shintaro would also tag along with her and Ryutaro-san from time to time. This time though, that wasn’t exactly why he comes along. It was more because of Riho.
“Ikuta-chan??” Shintaro probed, glancing at Riho as well.
“Well,” Erina said. “Tanaka-kun told Riho about what you did during the filming of your drama…”
“And what I did was..?” Shintaro urged.
Erina raised a brow at him. “It’s what you did, you should know better.”
“I seriously don’t know!”
Erina shook her head at him, disappointed. “You almost kissed Paruru.” She hissed at him.
Shintaro blinked at her.
“I what???” He asked loudly. “When did that happen?? And wait, ‘Paruru?’” He asked.
“Shouldn’t you know?” Erina said, looking at him doubtfully. “And I’m a fan of hers, got a problem with that?”
“As far as I know, it never happened.” He said seriously. “I didn’t know you were an AKB-fan.”
“Well, that wasn’t what Tanaka-kun said.” Erina said coldly. “And yes, I am.”
“Well, it’s not true!” Shintaro said.
“Tell that to Riho.” Erina advised.
“I will.” Shintaro said with a frown. “What’s the big deal anyway, even if I might have almost kissed her? Not that I did, or not that I would try, Kyomo-chan will kill me.” He trailed off. “Besides, she already kissed me.” He said with a pout.
“Wait, Paruru kissed you?” Erina said, very surprised.
“No!” Shintaro said quickly. “I meant her.” He said, pointing at Riho.
“She did?” Erina asked excitedly, now suddenly smiling broadly.
Shintaro blushed. “Yes.” He said. “Once… after I confessed to her…” He said softly, pouting.
Erina looked at him. “You don’t seem happy.”
“Of course I was happy! But then…”
-
“Riho! Wait up!” Shintaro called.
Riho turned to him to glare. “Your house is another station away.” She said coldly.
“I know how to go home, thank you!” He said; a little annoyed. “But that’s not where I want to be right now.”
But Riho ignored him and was already walking away.
“Hey! Wait!” Shintaro said, running after him.
“I didn’t do it, okay?!” He shouted after here. “Ugh, I’ll kill Juri!”
Riho was still ignoring him, walking faster.
“He must have meant there was a scene where our faces were close. But that was because the script says we should glare at each other at that proximity.” He started explaining, walking besides Riho.
“Besides, you’ve watched that episode! Episode 2, remember?? And I can’t really control these things. I don’t know if we’ll have a romantic scene or something. It’s not like it’s for real!” He said.
Riho stopped abruptly that Shintaro almost bumped into her. But she didn’t look at him; she just sighed and started walking once more.
“If you must know, it’s Kyomo-chan who likes her, not me.” Shintaro started saying. “You’re the one I like, not her.”
Shintaro couldn’t see Riho’s face, but she was still acting like she didn’t hear him.
“If it’s such a big deal, why don’t you just go ahead and kiss me then!” He said, frustrated.
Shintaro didn’t realize they were already in front of her house. She finally looked at him and then said, “Bye, then.” And she proceeded to their front door and closed the door on Shintaro’s face.
-
“I know I was being silly.” Riho told her friends, sighing. They were again on the train, on their way home. Today, they weren’t with Shintaro since he had filming for the day.
“Yes, you were.” Kanon said. “Besides, Juri can be a bit exaggerated.”
“I realized that.” Riho said. “But I don’t know. I can’t just tell him it’s already okay and that it wasn’t really his fault.”
Erina shook her head at her friend half-exasperated, half-fond. “Well, you two just can’t seem to stop competing against each other. But setting that aside,” She said, looking at her slyly. “You never told me you already kissed.”
Riho blushed furiously.
“You already did??” Kanon asked, excitedly.
Riho only nodded. Her two friends suddenly looked at each other and started giggling.
“Only once!” Riho said, trying not to blush any further.
“Yes, Shin told me.” Erina said. “You initiated it, right after he confessed.” She said, grinning mischievously.
Riho couldn’t take it anymore, and covered her face with her hands.
The other two started laughing.
“He seemed kinda sad about that though.” Erina said in ponder.
Riho looked at her. “Sad about what?”
“The kiss or something…” Erina said with a shrugged. “He was pouting.”
“Well, when was that?” Kanon asked.
“Third of March.” Riho automatically said. The other two grinned at her slyly. She pounded her head on her bag.
“I think he’s sad you haven’t kissed him since.” Kanon said. “Maybe he’s even a bit happy you’re jealous of Paruru and that Juri told you they almost kissed. Maybe he’s thinking you would kiss him again.”
“I’m not jealous!” Riho said quickly.
The two raised her eyebrows at her. Riho was just wishing she could just go home already.
But she did remember what Shintaro said to her.
“If it’s such a big deal, why don’t you just go ahead and kiss me then!”
-
“I’m really sorry, Riho.” Shintaro said. They were once again, on the train. This time, Kanon-neechan and Erina made sure they would be sitting beside each other. “Though I didn’t really do anything.” He said softly.
Riho raised a brow at him but sighed and said, “Yeah, fine, I forgive you.” She said.
Shintaro grinned so widely, Riho almost laughed.
“So…” He said in a whisper. “How 'bout that kiss?” He asked.
Riho looked at him sharply, looking a bit surprised.
And trying to fight her blush, she said. “You really want me to kiss you?”
Shintaro looked away, turning red. “Of course I do.” He said softly. “I mean, well, we’ve been together for two months now…”
“I don’t want to.” Riho said firmly.
Shintaro looked at her and pouted.
Riho shook her head. “No.”
-
“What happened this time?” Erina asked Riho, who was once again completely ignoring Shintaro. This time, Shintaro was sitting with Kanon-neechan across from them.
Riho frowned. “He’s been pestering me, asking for a kiss. Whenever he opens his mouth, it’ll be about why I should kiss him. It’s driving me nuts!”
“Well, why don’t you just go ahead and do it?” Erina asked.
“It’s not such a simple thing! I don’t want to do it!” Riho said.
“Okay, okay, I get you.” Erina said. “But it’s not like you haven’t kissed him yet.”
“Yes, but that time, I sort of just got carried away. I was crying and everything and I had mixed feelings.”
-
“Here.” Shintaro said, handing her a paper bag. It was just the two of them today since S/mileage have a recording and since Erina have a photoshoot with Oha Girl Maple.
“What’s this?” She asked.
“’Please-stop-with-the-cold-treatment bribe;’ they’re chocolates.” He said.
Riho smiled. “Thanks.”
Shintaro grinned. “So, about that kiss…”
“Ugh.” Riho said and forced the paper bag to Shintaro. “Just shut up already. You’re so annoying.” She said, looking away.
“I was just joking.” Shintaro said, poking Riho.
“Just go away.” Riho said, still not looking at him. “Looking at you makes me more annoyed!”
Riho heard Shintaro let out a sigh. “It was just a joke.”
Shintaro started pulling Riho again, making her face him. After a while, she finally relented, only to see Shintaro’s face covered with the paper bag with holes for his eyes.
“What..?”
“Well, you said you didn’t want to see me, but I want to see you.” He said, sounding glum.
Riho couldn’t help but laugh at him. “Stop being silly and just take it off.” She said, pulling the paper bag from his head.
But doing so, she found her face only centimeters away from Shin’s.
They stared at each other for seemingly a very long while. Shin seemed to be quite shocked as well.
And then, realizing what was happening, Riho turned away, blushing.
Once more, she felt Shintaro pulling her to face him once more. He was smiling this time and then swiftly, he leaned in and kissed her forehead.
“That’s enough for now.” He said. “I’ll wait until you’re ready.”
Riho smiled gratefully at him and took his hand in hers.
“So, still want the chocolates?”
