Shintaro looked at the lighter in his hands, frowning.
Just right then he felt very lousy.
He couldn't believe what happened yesterday.
It was a mixture of feelings.
He felt misunderstood. He was sad, frustrated, disappointed, and mostly, resentful.
They were wrong, all of them. They all didn't know his brother.
He felt rebellious.
He had taken out the cigarette he had bought and flicked the lighter on, lighting it.
He stared at it for a moment, pondering.
And then slowly, he raised his hand holding the cigarette to his mouth.
It happened so fast, he was shocked.
His cheek felt numb.
He look up to see Ryuu glaring at him.
"Baka! What do you think you're doing!" Ryutaro hollered at Shin.
Shintaro blinked and stared at his brother. This was the first time Ryuu had slapped him, or hurt him for that matter.
Getting hold of himself, Shintaro stood up. "But they are all wrong!" He told his brother.
"But doing something wrong won't make it right!" Ryuu said, anger still in his voice.
"But they accused you! Even if you didn't really do it! Might as well do it anyway!" Shintaro cried. He felt hurt. Not so much because of the slap, but because it was his Nii-san who did it. He hated himself for feeling like he wanted to cry.
"You don't have to give mom more heartbreaks. I've given her enough of that." Ryuu said, more calmer now.
Shintaro didn't reply, but instead, his tears welled up and unwillingly, they fell down his face.
"You're such a crybaby..." Ryuu teased, trying for humor.
But Shintaro kept crying.
"B-but they accused Nii-chan..." He managed to say between sobs. "They made you out like some sort of an attention-seeking jerk."
Ryuu smiled sadly at his brother.
"But Mom knows the truth. My friend knows the truth. You know the truth. And that's what matters."
Ryuu hasn't much anything to do at home. Mostly he studies, but it was summer after all.
It was summer, and he couldn't go out, and he hadn't work, so really, besides studying, there's nothing much to do at home.
And so he watched them.
Watched their videos together. He had all the copies of their Concert DVDs. He also have copies of their personal videos Hikaru-kun recorded.
He watched them and as he did so, his heart clenches.
The videos showed him his past, how he used to be, how happy he was. Past tense noted.
They showed him his present, how different he is now, how far away they were from him.
They showed him what his future could have been, showed him what he couldn't have anymore.
They silently mock him.
It was torture.
But still, he watches; because he miss it. He miss them.
Feeling melancholy, he took his phone and opened it, searching for it again.
He smiled as he looked at Inoo-chan's Jweb.
'Morimoto, hurry and come back.'
That was the not-so-hidden message.
He smiled. He doubted it, but it was rather comforting to think that they miss him too.
For the first time in weeks, Ryuu had received a mail from Yuto-kun.
'Ne~ Let's go out this weekend. The five of us~ ^____^'
Surely it was a group message and clearly he was invited.
But he felt very hesitant.
He hadn't seen him since that day. And he really hadn't the face to show them.
But he misses them dearly. He wanted to see them. Wanted to talk to them again, hang out with them again.
Ryutaro prepared early that weekend. He looked at himself on the mirror wearing the t-shirt Dai-chan gave him for his birthday this year and the cap he had yet to return to Chii.
But he couldn't make himself go out. He couldn't wait to see them, but yet he couldn't bear to face them.
So for that whole morning, Ryuu just stared at his reflection on the mirror.
Maybe it was foolish to think of meeting them.
He had told himself to get over it and changed to normal clothes but then again, he couldn't. He didn't want to.
Suddenly his door burst open.
He stared in shock as he saw them.
"Mou~ Ryuu-chan, you're late!" Yuto-kun whined, pouting at him.
"We couldn't wait anymore so we decided we'd just go here." Yama-chan said.
"We could hang out here instead. You still have my Arashi DVD ne, let's watch that." Chinen said.
"And we already brought food, so all's set." Keito said.
The four of them bustled in, feeling at ease.
Ryuu didn't realize that he was still standing in the middle of his room.
"Come on, Ryuu-chan! Arashi!" Chii urged.
Still, Ryuu didn't move.
"Guys..." Ryuu said, looking at them, sadly.
"Arashi!" Chii said, sounding exasperated now. "You know~ You are my soul! Soul! Itsumo sugu soba ni aru yuzurenai yo daremo jama dekinai karadajuu ni kaze wo atsumete makiokose a-ra-shi a-ra-shi for dream~" He started singing.
Ryutaro stared at him.
Keito laughed and started singing as well, "We can make it true hontou no yume wa itsumo soba ni aru..."
Yama-chan, Chii and Yuto grinned and joined in singing. "Hateshinaku hiroi sekai hitotsu dake kagayaita my dream! My dream! We can make it! We can make it!"
"Omoide zutto zutto sasurenai sora futari ga hanarete ittemo konna sukina hito ni deau kisetsu nido to nai~" Yuto sang and looked expectedly at him.
The four of them smiled at him.
It was his turn. It was his line during their Arashi medley.
And Ryuu found himself singing softly, "hikatte motto saikou no lady kitto sotto omoi todoku shinjiru koto ga subete love so sweet..." He trailed off.
"Let's watched our first concert instead!" Yama-chan said excitedly, fumbling around Ryuu's TV and DVD player.
"Ryuu-chan~" Yuto-kun called.
This time, Ryuu couldn't help but smile as he moved towards his friends.
AN: this was the arashi medley during their debut concert in tokyo dome
"Ohayou~!" Ryuu stirred when he heard Yabu's voice, but he didn't rise.
"You've been doing your best!" This time he heard Hikaru's voice.
He groaned and shoved a pillow at his head, trying to shut off their voices.
"Oi, wake up! It's already morning yo!" Takaki's voice said.
"Come on wake up." Daiki said.
"Mou, he became worst than Dai-chan." Inoo-chan said.
Groaning some more, Ryuu sat up a little searching blindly under his pillows.
He couldn't find it.
"Ugh!" He moaned, "Where's that damn phone... Ugh, I don't remember setting up so many alarms today..." He said sleepily.
He heard laughters.
"Ryuu-chan, wake up!" BEST chorused.
Ryutaro's eyes fluttered open. There was no group alarm during their OVER campaign.
He removed the sheets that was covering him slowly.
It was to see the whole BEST surrounding his bed.
"Minna..?"
"Ohayou~! Koppi desu!" Yabu said teasingly and BEST laughed.
"What are you doing here?" He asked, surprised.
"You'll be coming back!" Inoo-chan said excitedly.
"Eh?"
"They've already announced it!" Dai-chan said.
"So we prepared a welcome back celebration!" Takaki said.
"Now get up and get ready!" Hikaru said as he pulled the younger boy out of the bed.
Out of context, this is just an extra. :P
"I still can't see why you can't do it." Kanon persisted, pouting at him.
Ryuu looked at her, half-amused, half-exasperated.
"You know full well I can't." He told her.
"Why???" She asked again. "Since they're being stupid, then we'll take you!" She said and Ryuu could see a small twitch at the corner of her lips.
"Kanon, I can't be part of S/mileage!" He said.
"But we're searching for new members! Since your group is cutting off members, then just transefer to us. There's an audition this Monday." She said, now really smiling.
Ryuu rolled his eyes at her, knowing full well she was only trying to cheer him up.
"As far as I know you're searching for girls around thirteen to eighteen."
Kanon shrugged, "They only said the age range."
Ryuu shook his head at her but laugh.
"Just imagine if I went there and started singing and dancing Ganbaranakutemo ee Nende, baka." He told her.
Kanon laughed as well, she couldn't resist anymore.
