[FANFIC] The Prince's Tale

-short, spontaneous, rushed, unbetaed fic for the occassion. i warn you, i typed as i formulate the plot in my head. i didn't think of the plot much either.
-obviously greatly influenced by my postharrypotterdepression. /whacekd

Ryosuke was quite surprised to find Suzuka alone in the veranda by their classroom duing their break. Usually, she was surrounded by her friends.
He was even more surpirsed when he saw that she was actually crying.
Warily, he approached her.
He gently tapped her on her back. "Suzuka? Are you okay?"
She blinked and looked at Ryosuke.
"Yama-chan." She smiled and wiped her tears. She raised her hand to her ears and took off one of her earphones. "Sorry, did you say something?"
Ryosuke frowned at his friend. "Why are you crying? Are you okay?"
"Oh." Suzuka said and then laughed. "No, don't mind me... it's just..." She pouted. "Well, Severus... Voldemort just killed Severus." Suzuka said going teary-eyed again.
Ryosuke, realization dawning on him, shook his head in amusement. "You're listening to the audiobook again." He said in a statement.
Suzuka nodded sheepishly.
"Do you wanna listen too? It's almost the Prince's tale." Suzuka said offering one of her earpiece to Ryosuke.
Ryosuke shrugged and moved besides her, taking the earpiece and putting it on his left ear.
For a moment, the two kept quiet as they listened to the narration. But just as the narrator mentioned Snape, Suzuka started tearing up again.
Chuckling a bit at his friend's antics, Ryosuke snatched her Ipod and pressed pause.
"You've heard this a thousand times! I wouldn't be surprise if you knew this word by word!" Ryosuke said, looking at Suzuka in exasperation and amusement.
Suzuka screwed up her nose. "B-but it's just so sad... Poor Severus..." She said as a few drops of tears fell.
Ryosuke laughed.
"What has Harry Potter done to you? Shouldn't you be like, the Ice Princess of our generation? You're a crying mess!" Ryosuke teased.
Suzuka tried not to laugh, but didn't quite manage. "Well, it is sad! It's tragic! Severus loved Lily ever since they were kids. Loved her even after she got with James and even after she died." She said.
"Well, that's life." Ryosuke said with a shrug, leaning his back on the veranda and looking away into their classroom. "The sad fact is that, for girls, there is usually someone who loves them as much as Severus loved Lily. But just like Lily, you girls usually choose your James." he said staring off.
Suzuka too, leaned her back on the veranda and faced their classroom, getting a view at what was happening inside.
She looked back sharply at Ryosuke.
"Mirai-chan doesn't like Miki!" She said quickly.
Ryosuke blink as he moved his eyes away from Mirai and Kamiki laughing together at something Yuto showed them in his camera. They were inside their room.
"I'm not talking about me!" Ryosuke said hastily."I... I meant that in a general way... I mean, for example... in Hikaru-kun's drama; there's Shu-san who really, truly loves Miko but still Miko chose Ren-san... I just... I just think that's what usually happens..." Ryosuke trailed off.
Suzuka was quiet for a while, contemplating.
"Hmm, well boys should aim to be a James then." Suzuka said.
"Well, yes. That may be true as well... But you know, it wasn't up to Severus. It was up to Lily in the end." Ryosuke said.
"That's why boys should make it so their Lily will see them as James..." Suzuka said.
Ryosuke smiled at that and then looked at Suzuka.
"You've already found your James." he said with a smirk, pointing his head to the inside of their room; to Yuto.
Suzuka turned pink but slowly nodded.
"Haven't you found your Lily?" She asked after a while.
Ryosuke turned back to their classroom. "I have." He said with a small smile.
Suzuka turned to their classroom as well and smiled.
"Suzu-chan!" Yuto called, looking excited. "Go here for a bit, I'll show you something!"
Suzuka stepped forward and then stopped. She turned back to Ryosuke.
"Oh, do you want to continue listening?" She asked offering him her Ipod.
Ryosuke scrunched up his nose and shook his head. "I've heard it a hundred times thanks to you."
Suzuka playfully pouted at him and then she smiled, "Well, do your best to be a James."
"Un." Ryosuke said, nodding a bit.
As Suzuka moved inside the room, Ryosuke turned to the veranda, looking at their school's field.
The sky was clear today. It was really a great day but somehow, he felt melancholy.
Again he was surprised, but this time it was because someone tapped him on his back.
He looked back and smiled when he saw her. Mirai.
"What are you doing here?" Mirai asked moving besides him so their shoulders were touching.
He just shrugged. "I'm just thinking."
"You look sad." Mirai said. "Again." She added as an afterthought.
Ryosuke didn't reply.
"Did Suzu-chan said something to you?" She asked, concerned in her voice.
He smiled a bit. "We talked about James, Lily and Severus."
"Ahhh..." Mirai said, managing a small smile. "Suzu-chan did say she's still suffering from her post-HarryPotter-depression."
"Understatement of the year." Ryosuke said with a chuckle.
"So what is it about James, Lily and Severus?" Mirai asked.
Ryosuke smiled, looking away at the field. "Suzuka said I should try hard to be a James, rather than a Severus when I found my Lily."
They were both silent after that statement.
Ryosuke thought they would just leave it at that, but Mirai spoke after a while.
"Yes, you should." Mirai said.
Ryosuke couldn't help but give a bitter laugh.
Mirai looked at him with worry. "Your...uhm, Lily--"
"She'd already found her James." Ryosuke said quickly, not looking at Mirai..
"You've already set yourself as Severus then." Mirai said, a bit annoyed.
"Well, it's kinda hard not to when her James is my best friend." Ryosuke said, finally looking at Mirai.
Mirai could see the hurt in his eyes.
Ryosuke's eyes then wander towards inside their classroom.
Yuto was talking animatedly to Suzuka, with Suzuka laughing all the while.
Mirai sighed.
"At least tell her..." Mirai said softly.
"No. It's fine this way..." Ryosuke said a bit coldly.
"And what about you? How long will you watch them like this? Watch her??" Mirai said, feeling very frustrated.
Ryosuke shrugged with a small smile.
"Always."
