Watched Jim Henson: Idea Man tonight. I'm sure most of Gen X already knows pretty much everything in the film and that it is intended both for those of us who want to visit an old friend and those out there who were born after Jim left, so that they could get a chance to know him and then miss him, too. It was a lovely, warm story and fun to see everyone - human and Muppet - again. They showed a clip of "Magic Dance" and of course I automatically completed the call and response in my head, even when the story had moved on.
And, yes, of course I got sniffly when they played "It's Not Easy Being Green" and a tiny but of "Rainbow Connection." How can you not?
At the end, they showed clips from his funeral and it was both sweet and heartbreaking. And I don't suppose it would surprise anyone to know that those who worked with him still get choked up talking about him being gone.
34 years and I still can't listen to "A Boy and His Frog" without crying.
