It's been a while since I posted anything meaningful in this... largely because I've not had anything to post that would have been fit for "public consumption".
Every Friday after work, a few of us head into O'Neills for a few drinks and a game of pool or what have you. Normally, there's only half a dozen people who show up, especially after everyone's times were changed. This week, O'Neills was packed out - but there was a reason for it.
Even though, since the split, we've hardly seen hide nor hair of her, it's surprising just how popular Crystal really was at work. Or maybe not. Perhaps its just me, but when you're used to the same six faces in the pub after work, it was astonishing to see everyone come out of the woodwork.
In all, I only "directly" worked with Crystal for about half an hour (and even then, that wasn't planned), so the two of us weren't really close colleagues or anything like that, but I guess it's true what they say: you never really know what you've got 'til its gone.

After last weekend's trip to Dundee (which was one of those "shit happens" moments to say the least), I had plenty of time to reflect on various things while sitting in the only train carriage that didn't have working heating.
Quite a lot has been going through the old head since last Saturday night, especially in those days off I had last week. Without foreshadowing anything in particular, if you thought the changes in the past few months were something, then the rest of the year is going to be quite a shock to the system.
If I'm sitting here at the end of 2007 saying "I still work for BancTec" (or whoever runs the place), I'll be surprised. Hell, if I'm still living in the same place at the end of '07. I'll be stunned. The only thing I ask, if that any leaving do isn't too over the top. Whether it's to a friend, a colleague, or anyone else, I hate saying goodbye to anyone.
It just sounds so final: which is probably why you'll be hard pressed to ever hear me say "goodbye" to anyone. Never say never, and all that - even if you think you'll have seen someone for the last time, you never know what tomorrow could bring.
