Tonight I’ve been invited over to my friend Tim’s house to play poker, which given my
previous successes at gambling should be a lot of fun, especially as I have absolutely no idea at all of how to play the game.
With that in mind I’ve just had a quick look on the intyweb for a
basic guide on how to play. On the plus side it seems that if you are a good liar then you have every chance of being successful at poker, and as lying is one of my better abilities this could well be the game for me. On the other hand there also seems there’s a very good chance I could have my kneecaps broken if I end up in too much debt - although with a £10 buy-in that’s a fairly remote likelihood, even with *my* finances.
I’ve just spoken to a colleague here who is a regular player and he’s advised me to bet all-in on the very first hand regardless of what cards I have.
"Right. I bet all my chips, two slices of pizza, my scooter, the shirt off my back, my house, my collection of Star Wars themed Mr Potato-Heads and this pack of half-chewed wine gums."
I think he was joking.
I think.
