SHODAN PLOT
Okay! So, I am a-plottin with SHODAN, and I need some help and also some okays to get things going. I'm going to describe what I want to happen, and then if you kind modlyfolk could tell me what I have to do to make it happen, I'd be much obliged!
SHODAN wants to take over the space station and basically do what she was doing on Citadel - create a new race of cyborg/human hybrids as her “angels”/ heralds, then rule over whoever's left as a goddess. She'd also like to do some research into the singularity at the center of the station to see if it can be harnessed like the Von Braun's hyperdrive and used to re-write the structure of reality.
There's a few parts to this plan:
1. Get herself uploaded into one of Hypatia's primary dataloops so she can override station control. I DO NOT WANT HER TO ACTUALLY TAKE OVER MORE THAN A SMALL SECTOR, AS THAT WOULD FUCK SHIT UP. However, if she could, as part of a large plot event for players to get involved in, take over a small sector (like a neighborhood in one of the cities) and turn it into happy fun times nightmare land, that'd be awesome.
1. I would like this very much to be a PCs fault. That is, SHODAN (possibly as Polito) convinces some PC that it's totally a good idea to patch her (or Polito) in to a node on the station, and then everything goes to shit as she takes over the automated systems and locks the place down as her own special playground.
2. Gather some “volunteers” for experimentation. I believe Sollux has already “volunteered” for the process. This will involve first taking DNA samples from PCs and splicing people together to create hybrid monstrosities. SHODAN has created viruses and parasites that do overwrite people's DNA before (see the Many) and she can do it again.
This will involve people getting turned painfully into mutant robot hybrid things. Obviously this process is easily reversed if a person's last stable teleport was while they were still human/troll/whatever.
Ais are welcome to join the party to help her out in takeover, and will be granted special favors, command positions, jurisdiction over ripping people apart and re-splicing them into fun new forms and putting cybernetic parts into them.
Experimentation can happen BEFORE sector takeover.
Obviously, the setup is quite nebulous and I need some help refining it into something workable. The FINAL result, however, I would like to be this: SHODAN takes over a small area of the space station (less than one sector. Like a quarter of a sector) and turns it into her own private horrible playground. She then starts propagating through the system like a virus... very slowly. Other players will then go in to stop her in two groups - one group to take out the mutant cyborg nano grey goo Gigeresque monstrosities that are pouring out of that sector and to rescue the people she's taken in as her personal pets, and the other a team of crack hackers to stop her from spreading through the station.
I have no intention of her getting any further than that; I figure if she even gets as far as half a sector that Hypatia can just lock her down, but at the same time I want a sense of tension here. Hypatia may be crazy, but SHODAN is far, far, FAR worse.
SO TL;DR to summarize what I'm going for:
- SHODAN gets her own lab and starts doing nasty things to people
- Someone has a Nice Job Breaking It Hero moment of uploading SHODAN into the system in the hopes that she can do something about Hypatia; SHODAN goes viral and starts to take over parts of the station
- Other characters go in and kick her ass until she stops, then presumably some hacker puts restraining code on her so she doesn't do this again.
So um, help making this more workable. Please?
