Life doesn't seem to be passing me by?
I haven't written a real post in a while. I have a litany of excuses. really. I do. BBB and BR site stuff. Being the review coordinator is HARD work. Fun, but hard and some days it can be frustrating. But I don't mind it for the most part. It keeps me busy when I'd probably be complaining how bored I am. I'm finding a ton of great books doing it, but I gotta watch the budget seriously for a while. Plus I have more to read than I can keep up with. I've read probably about 115 books this year alone, give or take. And its only the end of August. I still have a box to get through for the review site and we won't talk about my to be read pile (if you're bored, just go over to goodreads and find my list...lol). But I love reading, so why complain. :)
Quilting has kept me busy this year. I've taken a couple of classes through the quilt shop, I'm involved in about three block swaps and I have some unfinished projects that need done. You've seen most of what I've finished this year. Not quite as productive as last year, but I've still gotten a fair majority of stuff done. I was excited to enter, but kind of sad to come home empty handed. The bright side is that one of our canned goods won a 4th place ribbon. :) So now, Petey and I are starting to can and we're trying to pay more attention to what we're doing so we can enter stuff next year. And of course, its already backfiring on us. LOL.
Here's our fourth place ribbon:
Here's the quilt I had hoped would win something:
Let's see. Other stuff that's happened this summer. We went to PAPA (the Pro-Am Pinball Association) Championships. Didn't come home with anything there either, but we had friends who did :) So that was cool to cheer them on. I went to my first Washington Wild Things game. They lost in extra innings, but it was fun. We had lots of family stuff over the summer too. Reunions, baptisms, neices birthday parties, etc etc. So its been a crazy busy summer. Even during my first unpaid week off, I was busy. My second one is coming up next week. Fortunately, I get unemployment this time and I don't have anything major planned except a visit to the parents. And I'm not sure what we're doing about our 11 year anniversary yet. I'd like to get away, but that whole... "you're laid off for a week" thing is making me wince at the thought. So I'm not sure what I want to do.... But, I'll get lots of stuff done. I asked a girl here to teach me how to crochet, so I can practice that when I'm off (as if I don't have ENOUGH to do!! LOL!) But crocheting is sooo much more portable than quilting or sewing. I can even take crocheting to Quilt Guild and work on it while listening to speakers, etc. I ordered a kit at Herrschner's that I'm really excited about getting. (
www.herrschners.com/product.aspx) I also ordered a cross stitch Halloween quilt too. So, I'll be keeping busy over the next few months. Maybe if I get good enough, I can actually make presents! :) And save SOME money somehow. :) Just a thought. :)
So, here was the 2nd attempt, after I ripped out the first attempt of my crochet lesson:
Here's where I'm at currently, after ripping out attempt number 2.
I even got ambitious and made a tote bag for the crochet stuff, however, the dimensions are a little small, so I'll be working on a bigger one possibly later in the week, after I work on some super secret projects and work on cleaning the house (not much cleaning got done today. oops!)
I'm stuck at home all week since the truck is broke down, again. But hopefully, Pete's dad will be able to fix it, so that will save us a little bit of money. It just may take longer than a week. It depends on whether he can do a work around with it. We'll see what happens. :( But I figure since I'm off and can't go anywhere, I can try to get lots done around here. (yeah, right. LOL!)
So. that's pretty much what I've been up to. Nothing exciting. I wonder sometimes if anyone reads my blog since I rarely post anymore. LOL.
But as always, thanks for reading and have a GREAT day
