Guangzhou Et Cetera..

Shit... What an endless madness here in China... I just arrived home today from Guangzhou (Canton). I had to go there to renew my passport. That almost went perfect The one problem was that I had to re-take my pictures. What a load of bullshit! I payed to have them taken beforehand. Quite annoying... Anyways, when I arrived in Guangzhou I had early had a host of problems. The coach got a flattyre or something came loose underway in the middle of the night. It required more than an hour to fix this problem. I was about to go out and help fix it to get the hell going.

But after six o'clock in the morning it was spectacularly beautiful. The countryside passed for what seemed like eternity and I remembered it all from the first time when I had just come to China. Anywho... I arrived and looked for a taxi. The firt one I saw was a strange three-wheeled thing. I thought it didn't look safe and refused the first offer: "It is too far." "No, it's quite fast, actually", the driver said. And so we made our way to my destination. The streets all weave through each other from over and under and it looks like a gigantic version of one of those marble games where they roll down. I held the seat tight as the vehicle rode on one of the highest streets of the city and looked around. The air of the morning was still a little cool, but that would soon change..

On the new photos my face looks pretty red because of the heat and that wasn't very nice. And no0ne in the Dutch Consulate speaks Dutch! Weh... When everything was finished with the passport business I went searching for some traditional clothes for my girlfriend. After hours of looking in every shoppe I thought I had done well. I searched through all the little specialty shoppes of the Olde Quarter, Shamiendao. That is an island where the buildings are from the colonial time period of olde Canton. When I was having a rest between shopping in a quiet area and eating my [expensive] bread I saw a woman that seemed to be doing some strange exercise while she walked. But when she came closer I noticed that her leg was red with blood. I looked at the policemen that we having a break next to me and they quickly went over to see what was going on and walked away with her. The woman didn't look too worried, though, as she just called someone.

I had to walk around on that damn island far too long, though.. All I wanted to do was go back home. The coaches didn't leave until the evening. I unloaded in the toilet of a five-star hotel real quick before I went to the busstation to return to my home. In the busstation I was to wait a long time and when I thought I could go earlier I ended up going on another bus to Yangshuo. I was just glad to get out of the big city and in this coach I could sleep on the comfortable "bedchairs" and I got a blanket and pillow. I arrived in Yangshuo at quarter past xix, had breakfast, and already departed for Guilin around seven o'clock. I didn't go home, but went straight to Xue Lin's home. When I got there she was hanging some clothes on the line and we held each other for a while. Later, I gave her the clothes I bought for her. She wasn't allowed to look and felt the silk of the "trousers". She loved them, but the shirt is a tiny bit too big. O well, I have done pretty well for a man...

Then we went out to eat lunch and returned to my home, where I took a shower and finally stank less. It was funny. When I said that I stank and wanted to take a shower she said that she prefers my stink to a better smelling Xiao Dong. =P HA! After the shower she gave me a massage and we played a little in bed before I took her to work. The end of a journey... =D

JA, FINISHED WITH MY PASSPORT!!! I don't have to do that again for another ten years!
