M has set off for the wilds of El Paso to go see his dad for a few days, which means I get the bed to myself! I've always had a terrible time sleeping next to other people, and even though I love him to death, he does some crazy maneuvering in his sleep because he's such an active dreamer, which means I usually have pretty broken up nights. (One night he rolled over in his sleep, sat up, and gently karate chopped me in the side. It was pretty hilarious.) Added to that, there are 3 of 5 cats on the bed most nights right now because it's cold and they want warm cuddles, so 90% of the time I'm in a little fetal ball trying to claim my bit of mattress.
But not last night! I got to lay diagonally across the mattress, surrounded by kitties, and it was great!
While he's away, I'm going to try and do a major cleanup of our living space. He tends to accumulate junk around the desk, and ignore his laundry (even though he doesn't want me to do it for him), and I tend to pile my clothes by the foot of the bed, so there are some hot spots that need attention.
It will also free up some space for me to get the dress stuff set up so I can do some sewing after work. I don't really get to when he's home because he's working at the desk, so I'm going to take advantage of the next four days and get as much done as I can. I have a little bit of work left on the two petticoats I was making during my Christmas break, so I'll hopefully finish those quickly (it's waistbands and hems mostly), and then I can maybe get the skirt to the ballgown done. I grabbed my silver taffeta from the storage unit last night, so I'm good to get started as soon as I can.
I'm trying to get 2018 off to a productive sewing start, so fingers crossed I keep on track!
