Never give up, never surrender

Dear Claudia Black and Ben Browder via Farscape DVD commentary,

Thank you for reminding me how awesome Galaxy Quest was.

Sincerely,
M. McGregor, the living legend.

PS: Every time you make fun of Stargate, I forgive you a little more for actually being on it.

Shouldn't you be watching Flash Forward? Or are you all caught up?

Why are you wasting time re-watching a show that was actually awesome?

I want brain-'splosions (so dreamy!)! Get to it!

I'm trying! Honestly, I am. I've attempted to review episode 10 no less than four times now, and each time I black out. When I wake up, I'm working as a carnival barker and everyone thinks my name is Chico. They all say I've been working there for eighteen years. My wife is a carnie named Janine, and on her back is a tattoo that reads: BEWARE THE BRAGA.

EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Anyway, I won't give up until I've managed to review it, but it may take me a little longer than usual.

Would a picture of the Red Hulk help out in any way? Perhaps used as an aversion therapy tool?

I am only trying to help. I am concerned about Janine and the kids.

I wouldn't wanna be a living legend. I did like Galaxy Quest, though. I kind of wish Wil Wheaton had been in it.

That's what delusions are for. In my world, Wil Wheaton actually played the Sigourney Weaver role. It was a little confusing for me, sexually speaking, but I got over it.

I feel like you took that subject and ran along without me.

I think it's really the only logical conclusion to that train of thought.

Oh man, I actually just saw Galaxy Quest again this last week. It is so good, and it makes me happy to know that at least three awesome people I don't know agree.

Hey, I know I've put a little weight on recently, but calling me three people is not cool. I have feelings, you know.

I recall with some amusement how, on a forum where Star Trek was generally loathed and Star Wars all but universally beloved, we had a thread about Spaceballs vs Galaxy Quest.

It might have been the only resounding victory the trekkies ever had on that board; I can't recall a single poster who didn't consider Galaxy Quest at least mildly awesome.

Well I assume they won at the Galaxy Quest thread and at the "who wins in a fight between a Star Destroyer and the Enterprise" thread. Right?

ZOMG! How much do I love the commentaries. I've re-watched all of S1 and S2, listened to all the commentaries in those seasons, and watched all the bonus materials (there's only one I deep-sixed, and that was the one with Claudia Black and the director, Ian-someone that was so boring...).

Although, so far, in the commentaries I've heard Claudia Black is the only who's appeared on Stargate and Ben Browder hadn't yet, although it appears that he's already friendly with Michael Shanks. The good-natured ribbing of Stargate made me laugh for sure.

And, oh! How funny was it when they were talking about Galaxy Quest! And fanficion! (Ben Browder for one is a little too aware of fanfiction...)

Also, how nice was it to see the interview with Brian Henson in the S1 DVDs where he specifically points out that he actually doesn't blame SciFi for canceling Farscape (in fact, he was far more shocked they picked it up at all since there was no way SciFi would ever be in the black on this show). The only bit he seemed annoyed about was the last- ( ... )

Oh yes, the commentary for "Crackers don't matter" was very disappointing, and so far is the only one I haven't listened to. I was really looking forward to it since that is one of the greatest episodes of the series, but you don't really appreciate the natural chemistry between Claudia Black and Ben Browder until she gets put in a room with Ian Whatshisname. The guy made a great episode, but he's not exactly a dynamic personality ( ... )
