So....Walmart

Talk about feeling conflicted. In my heart of hearts, I will always hate Walmart (duh). I hate them for squelching small businesses, I hate them for their censorship tactics, I hate them for how they've helped change us from producers to consumers, I hate their employment practices, et al.

But, do I hate Walmart for going green? I'm not sure. Here's a surprisingly well balanced article on their move towards sustainability.

The green movement is interesting. Its success relies to some extent on being co-opted by the mainstream (like walmart), or does it? Is the best we can hope for the same America, but green? Or is grassroots capitalism fundamental to the ideas of a sustainable economy?

A company like Walmart going green will potentially have a huge impact on broadening the movement, and their ability to make ethanol a reality in the U.S market is exciting to me. Read these articles, its thought provoking.

This one is about their plans for distributing ethanol, a mix of 80% vegetable based fuel, and 20% gasoline.
