I began to look over some files stacked up in my desk. From the looks of things, everything seemed to be running smoothly. The Cairo Branch was having much success with its current multi-million dollar clients. A very powerful family of necromancers. I smiled. I pulled out the Los Angeles Branch file. Seemed like Angel’s visit to Rome went as expected as well. It had been a good idea to have the information leaked about Miss Buffy Summers being in Rome, and have the Capo di Famiglia of the Goran demon clan killed on his business trip to Italy…nice touch. Kept Angel and the L.A Branch busy and out of the loop for a good while.

The Rome office did an exceptionally good job at taking care of things and covering up matters quickly and efficiently.

“Sonya. Could you send a wine basket to Miss Ilona in the Rome office? For her help in the L.A. branch matter.” I said to my secretary over the intercom.

“Yes Mr. Hamilton.” She replied.

I poured myself a drink and I kept looking through the stack, trying to find the Rio file. It should have been at the top of the list by this morning at the very least. Finally, I found the file at the bottom of the stack. Still marked PENDING. I frowned.

“Sonya. Get special ops in Rio right away.” I said with obvious annoyance. “Oh and patch them through directly.”

“Yes sir.”

I had gone through a lot of trouble to get Angel out of the way to get this issue taken care of quickly and quietly. I did not need for the L.A. Brach to begin raising eyebrows and meddling in things that were none of their concerns. Finally my line began to ring.

“This is Hamilton.” I said.

It was the special ops leader on the line and I wanted answers.

“What happened? Did you take care of Finn and his squad?” I asked.

What the special ops leader told me made me break the glass that I was holding in my hand. Apparently, most of Finn’s squad had been killed. Almost being the word that had sent me fuming. Finn and another member of his squad were still very much alive. He also seemed to know that we had had been the ones that sent demons after him. This was not going to bode well for the senior partners. Finn and his squad had done a lot of damage in Rio, killed many of our firms high-class clients making him he number one target in our Rio list.

“How could you let this happen? Where is he now?” I shouted.

He was in L.A. I said nothing else. I simply hung up the phone. My hand was bleeding, shards of broken glass embedded in the palm of my hand. I simply pulled them out and watched my hand heal instantly. Taking a napkin, I cleaned my hands of the excess blood and pulled out my cell phone…dialed the number.

“Steven…I have a job for you. Make sure that everyone of the special ops team in Rio is replaced. I want them in bags by the morning.” I hung up.

“Sonya. I’ll be flying out to L.A in he morning. Make sure the jet is ready by 8:00 am. Oh and, send one of the cleaning crew to my office. There is broken glass all over my desk.” I said as I picked up my coat.

“Yes. Mr. Hamilton.” She replied.

Things were about to get interesting.
