F3 F5

Is it a good thing that I couldn't really play with the jets in BF3 with a mouse (cause keybinding to my joystick was impossible!) but that I took to the helicopter just fine? Seeing as how that's what I'm aiming for in the Army, I think it's not so bad a thing =P

However, it's a little disturbing how easy it was to bring my chopper down..

Mainly from enemy jets, but in real battle, there wouldn't be choppers put in that kind of situation- that is, a restricted bubble of a combat zone, trapped with enemy AA, jets, helicopters, and heat-seeking missiles everywhere =P

Oh OH oh oh, which reminds me, I wanted to brag on BF3 a little bit more.

It may be a camp-fest, but that's because there's so many places to hide! They really made this game realistic. If you want unrealistic, go play Halo. Taking dmg isn't very realistic, you can take quite a few bullets before you go down-- and just about no matter how you die-- knifed in the throat, or shot in the chest, I can rez you with my defibrillator! I rez'd this one sap in front of me at least 6-7 times before they finally killed us both (I was prone, in cover, and they had to come in close to try and kill us both-- but I'd shoot them after they killed him, rez him, and repeat, hehe) So yeah, not very realistic there. But anyway, it's also annoyingly realistic in that, guns that have bright lights on the barrel, or laser pointers- blind the shit out of you when pointed at you, which also means you're about to die.. solar flare!!

The downside of that, for those poor souls, is the lights, and scopes too, tend to reflect the sun =) So I sit in the bushes, and scan their bushes for a 'twinkle,' or 'shiny thing' then proceed to shoot at it.. usually resulting in a kill =) Only works on outside maps, but still pretty cool.

The vehicles pissed me off because I couldn't properly tweak keybinds or mouse sensitivity; however, what's neater is vehicles take selective damage right up until they are 'disabled.' Which is kind of like when you're about to explode in BF1942, but you're still in the seat with minimal control over the vehicle. Except in BF3 you may lose right rudder or aileron control, meaning you have to compensate by tilting the craft the other way or you'll crash. In the copter, you can lose certain functions which make staying in the air difficult, let alone straight. It's like, you're down but not out-- if you're good, you can still get away, land, and repair it! Which I did in the helo many times but often I'd get sniped... there's always a damn sniper. But you're not likely going to fly a crippled craft all the way back to base =P

A crippled tank will get so smokey you can't see what to shoot-- that or you just 'popped smoke,' I often couldn't tell the difference.

If they iron out all the kinks, this game is shaping up to be like, BF: bad company 2 on steroids. Most of the environment is destructible =)
