So starting Tuesday, I might be jobless once again. Almost two years with McDonald's, my longest running job, and it's probably going to end with what happened today.
Enrique, some people might be going "that name sounds familiar...", I spoke about him before in previous entries. He always was problematic for me. He's an older hispanic male who thinks he is the big shit on campus. Starting the beginning of this year, all the manager's jobs were switched around. He's now doing scheduling.
Lately, without the aid of the previous scheduler, he is now putting almost everyone on morning shifts, when he is working, that he can goof around with and not have to do any work. Days or times that he isn't working, they're being shorted people.
Today, I couldn't stand it anymore. He lets all the hispanic crew people have their break before we start getting busy, even those who got there after me, went before me. Yes, I only work 4 hours on Saturdays, but I do get a 10 minute break. As it's nearing 10am [I start at 7], I start to think "Well, I'm not going to get my break then, I guess" since they always give it to me before 9, before it starts to get busy. As it does start to get busy in the second half of the 9 o'clock hour, Enrique decides to "help" me without asking permission, or seeing if I need the help at all. Anyone who knows me, knows that when I am busy, if I need the help, I ask for it. If I have things under control, please just back the fuck off. I became so flustered when he interrupted, that I started spilling drinks, dropping cups [thankfully emptry this time], and just all around making a mess. When we get Frappe's, OK Enrique, you can do all the OJ then, because McCafe and Frappe are going to be busy on their own to the point I can't make OJs. By 10, I'm so irked, that I'm shaking, and I just want him out of my sight. I go to start making a couple large orders of orange juice, when he comes over, takes the cups from me and starts SLOWLY making the orange juices [no urgency what-so-ever], and tells me to finally take my 10 minute break. I'm shaking by this time in rage that he's sending me on break, in the middle of it being busy, that while I walk to the back of the store, I turn and flip him off, expecting to get just his back. Before I can even stop the action, I realize that he's watching me storm off. I collapse in the breakroom, and he comes back to talk to me about it "What the fuck was that about?"
First of all, a manager shouldn't even be using that sort of language to another employee. After yelling back and forth at each other for a couple minutes, he says "We're going to talk to Bill [the store manager] about this" then goes up to the front again to take over my place, before coming back for a case of orange juice, then tells me "why don't you just go home? i don't want to work with you anymore, and you don't want to work with me either."
Now, if we each get our chance to talk to Bill on our own, without the other "problematic" person around, I can tell Bill of all the shit he's been doing. I have a feeling that in the end, no matter what, I'll be the one fired. Though if they fired Enrique, I know a few people would be overjoyed that he's gone.
Too bad this is happening now, since I just found out I was nominated into the National Crew Person of the Year competition....
