I've spent much of the past couple days wiping cat snot off my laptop. Poor little buggers have antibiotics and eardrops for their respiratory infection.
One out of my two final projects has been submitted. It was the easier of the two (as in, minor edits from prior assignments) and it took me the majority of today (I had the day off) in addition to whatever I spent on it last week. Yeah, I lost a few days due to the runaway laptop incident, but now I just don't want to do the work!
Once upon a time I liked the soft glow of xmas lights. Now I just think about how much energy is wasted. Yeah, I've always been one of them tree-huggers, but my friend Frank sent me a link to
"The Story of Stuff" and it just reminds you even more. I hate how I've been getting a lot more food delivered (in throwaway containers). I've turned down the thermostat this winter, which is so not in line with my desire for a tropical environment. Stuff sucks. And this time of year makes it suck even more. I don't think my request to boycott the holiday (as I did last year) is having any effect. I already know what my parents and my sister want to get me. There's so much pressure.
My co-workers were shocked and impressed at my performance for our company holiday party's dance competition. I said I'd make up a poms routine, but I didn't have the time so I just got out there without even stretching and improvised to "Everybody Dance Now." I was laughing the whole time cuz I was just making it up. But people thought I did a great job and were telling me all night "You're such a good, quiet person; where did this come from?!" "You're so brave!" and all that crap. Once upon a time I might have been mortified about getting in front of an audience for anything, much less a poorly-planned short-shorts dance routine. But I had fun and got some exercise. Next time I'll wow them with my real poms abilities. Haha. One of my co-workers captured all the routines on video; they're posted on YouTube as private, so you can't see them unless he adds you. Oh well.
