i actually caught the majority of the vice presidential debate lastnight, which i hardly ever manage to do.. and.. it was something. I gotta say, I went from watching it on tv to listening to it on the radio and not having to see their faces made it a lot easier for me. I've noticed a similarity between McCain and Palin are both really easy to get mad at, from something as simple as their facial expressions.
keys notes of things that infuriated me:
The well known reluctance of Palin to ever answer a question straight forward, despite the fact that she claims what the American people need is "straight talk".
Biden repeated the word "fundamental" way too many, I really thought he was doing so well until he started to overly repeat himself and address the host when speaking as if she was the one who really needed the answers.
Palin claimed to be "tolerant" of homosexuals, and went on to say how her family and friends are diverse. I can't believe she went up there with the intent to use the word tolerance, and she used a number of times. It suggests that despite the fact that she possibly hates gays and would rather beat them in their respective faces with a bible, she practices tolerance, because she HAS to. It's like some joke her party played on her for shits and giggles.
Palin failed to answer any important questions, in a manner that helped me understand anything she was defended or suggesting. blah.
THIS IS SUCH A CURIOUS ONE TO ME: Palin went out of her way avoiding important questions to point out the fact that Obama and Biden haven't always agreed on everything, as if thats a bad thing!!?? Brett pointed out, and I agree, that perhaps with two slightly opposite minds working together they will find fault in their intentions before it's too late. Unlike that "maverick", and woman "maverick" who jumps at every given command.
Lastly, though I could go on, I was infuriated at the fact that as sparks started to fly they both became so immersed, as politicians often do, with pointing fingers at the opposite party instead of spreading knowledge and awareness for their own. Which is what makes these debates so juvenile.
I have to to say, I'm so excited that the first women to get this close to the presidency is sooo remarkably smart and strong and self-minded(note the sarcasm). It makes me sick.
I don't have to point out the obvious that I'm voting democrat(again), but let it be known that I think both parties need to do the minimum of good for this country and get past all the needless squabbling and juvenile taddle tales efforts.
