The decision for my characters to use American-style measures in Tales of the Tempest was deliberate. To those who are unfamiliar with them, I'm sure they're sometimes befuddling and annoyingly archaic, but it's that archaic character that, to me, makes them more suitable for use in a pseudo-historical setting.
