Memetic Unit Parte the Seconde
This one is about Tamarick, our usual narrative POV in the Tales of the Tempest stories.
1) Basic stats at the time of The Secret Oasis
Age: 19
Height: 6'2" (188 cm)
Weight: 195 lbs (88.5 kg)
Waist: 32" (81 cm)
Chest: 46" (117 cm) relaxed.
2) He was not actually forced to leave home. When he killed his former friend, there were plenty of witnesses around to confirm that he was not the one who drew steel, and all agreed he acted in self-defense. He left on his own over the objections of his family out of fear he might lose control again at some unpredictable time. His sexual preferences were irrelevant as long as he married who he was told to and kept any affairs discreet.
3) His distaste for pickle barrels is based on experience. Although he was in a position to one day take over the family business, his father started him at the bottom of the pickling operation and made him work his way up. He had not risen above a direct role in production before he left.
4) In spite of his complaints about the prospect of a desk job, there are aspects of that kind of work he both enjoys and is good at. That's why he handles the money.
5) He doesn't know his own strength, and often performs remarkable feats without apparently realizing they're remarkable. To a great degree this was the result of childhood hazing at the hands of the regular workers down on the floor of his family's business. (They don't seem to have considered he'd be their boss someday, and instead relished having the boss' son at their mercy.) Among other things, he was often made to move full barrels around all by himself. This turned out to be an excellent workout. Eventually it became easy for him. He never noticed he was the only one doing it.
6) His battle madness is an inborn trait, and it runs in his family although it's not often spoken of. His family owes its position in part to the role played by Tam's great grandfather, who suffered from the same uncontrolled frenzy, during the revolt against Regellan rule. It has remained dormant in most who have had it, never having been provoked.
7) He hates shaving, but also hates having a beard, which at his current age doesn't grow in very well anyhow.
8) He can never be truly upset if he has a mug of good beer in his hand, but he never acquires a taste for tea.
9) Although he's quite a good archer, he never won a contest in the Tripolis. His real strength in archery is that his aim doesn't deteriorate when he's forced to shoot quickly or under pressure.
