Fanfiction.net is deleting the internet! We should, er, Occupy! No, wait, BOYCOTT!

Jun 22, 2012 23:08

As some of you may have seen in the last few weeks, ff'net has started a massive crackdown on fic posted there that is not allowed by the terms of service. This has sent the community into a massive tizzy and backlash culminating in authors (well, some of us) being sent rather alarmist private messages.

Because nothing says "LET'S ORGANIZE" better than The Man taking away our porn.

Subject: Petition

Already, you know these people mean business. It's a PETITION, GET IN THE CAR.

I can't believe fanfic is doing this!

...well, technically, since we write it, we make the fanfic do what it's doing...?

Subject: Please pass it on to anyone you can!

I'm doing that right now. *beams*

IMPORTANT!: Fan-fiction is still deleting stories that contain yaoi, yuri,
lemons, violence, stories based on songs, and any detailed sex
scenes…so…just about every story on the site.

This is the most amazing sentence ever, you guys. DETAILED SEX SCENES are the ONLY thing fanfiction is for. Obviously.

Oh, wait, sorry. Apparently, yaoi and yuri, too. Because god knows there's no g-rated yaoi. (and god also knows that people would never, ever, use hyperbole scare tactics to rally people. Why, that might be considered lying. Also, apparently, ff'net doesn't consider femslash in the same light as yuri, as all of MY femslash? Yeah, it's still there--even that one where Jean and Domino are screwing, though it's not exactly detailed sex, so, I'm safe.).

Point three: stories based on songs and detailed sex scenes? HAVE BEEN NOT ALLOWED SINCE TWO THOUSAND FUCKING ONE. Or thereabouts. Your panties are in a bunch over something that was already not supposed to be there. WAKE UP AND READ THE BLOODY TOS, YOU DIPSHITS.

Most everyone knows of the
petition going around. If you haven't signed it, the link is www . change .
org /petitions/fanfiction-net-stop-the-destruction-of-fanfiction-net
Please remove spaces and sign petition so they don't remove mature content
including fics and accounts.

Internet petitions! Shit, ff'net will bow to our whims now, baby.

Also: mature content hasn't been allowed... FOR A VERY LONG TIME. So your petition is ten years too late. Suck it up, dumbass.

HOWEVER. However, this message is not over! Oh, no. It isn't. =D

But there is more we can do. someones organizing a Black Out Day.
On June 23rd(according to GTM timing, so that we know we're doing it
together), do NOT go onto fan-fiction. Don't read,
don't review, don't message your friends, don't update. If enough people
participate, then the site will notice, and will realize we take our stories
seriously.

BOYCOTT FOR GREAT JUSTICE. and porn. I'm not sure what GTM means, or how we're all gonna do it together without the AMAZINGNESS THAT IS OUR PORN UPLOADED. Or whatever. (also, fanfiction.net. It is NOT HARD TO TYPE, fan-fiction, it is not)

Please spread the word any way you can, in any fandom!

Done! *gestures at post*

And let me know if you're going to join.

I'd rather block you from being able to contact me, actually...

The motto is "Unleash Your Imagination." How can we if
we're being given a LONG list of what we cannot write?

YOU GUYS, I CAN'T. *cracks up*

June 23rd. Remember it. Please.!!!!!! i...

And so, the day came when fanfiction.net was boycotted. And the servers knew silence, ticking over gently as they seconds passed and the hours lengthened until finally--the traffic came back, they couldn't stay away. The traffic came back, the very next day.

So basically, don't go on FF tommorow. At all.

Well, you can stay away. Me? I've always wanted to rule the Just In section, and since I've not uploaded a damned thing since 2008, I might manage that for several hours. It could be amazing. Kinda like this private message of sheltered youth.

Kids, I remember the day they kicked mature content and songfics off site. This? Is nothing but them actually, FINALLY, cracking down on all you idiots who go "oh, well, that doesn't pertain to me! I am a special snowflake! You can't keep me doooown!"

If you're that het up about it, go get an ao3 account, ffs. They won't stifle your creativity.

*cracks knuckles and starts the difficult road of 'taking notes and making summaries' (oh, god, I hate this.)*

stupid ffnet reviewer tricks, plagiarists r dumb
