Losers and Prizes
My main sponsor (a great local comic store) decided instead of a gift basket full of miscellaneous shit, they'd drop a $70 prize on my lil' party.
They're awesome.
Some lucky sod will win a hardback copy of the Watchmen graphic novel, a hardback copy of the gorgeous making-of-the-movie coffee table book, and a t-shirt.
Now I just need to get enough bodies in place to justify all this wonderful sponsor enthusiasm. The prizes are fucking amazing, but getting the word out to anti social types via the intertubes and eschewing traditional media has netted me half the warm bodies I actually need. At this point, 1 in 2 people will leave with a prize instead of 1 in 4, which is great, but more bodies = more profit = more word of mouth for the future = win.
On a non-party related front, I sat through the world's most boring networking event this afternoon. I was one of 2 women out of 18 people and the ONLY person there under the age of 45. Yowch. Note to self - keep up with the progress of both society and technology as I age.
