uhhhhhh
Hi. I'm going to talk about shoujo manga in this post, so if you don't know or care about that stuff, just ignore it. I won't be offended :D (in fact, I won't even know!)
I went to JAFAX this weekend. I was gonna see Jane and maybe other people I know, but Jane already left and I didn't look very hard for anyone else. I'm lazy. We walked through the main place with people selling random stuff I wasn't interested. My brother and his friend and I looked at the schedule to see what was playing and.... the only thing we recognized was the Pokemon movie (Rise of Darkrai, whichever number that one is). So guess what we went to go see! It was kinda silly and fun. My favourite thing was the kid in front of us who said Darkrai looked like a ballerina (hahahahahaha! it's true!!). And the 5ish year old girl there with her dad, just because that's cute.
Then we figured we didn't really need to do much else, so we walked back through the selling place and I decided to make the trip worthwhile by buying manga and supporting my favourite mangaka and Walden Books (which is the local branch of Borders, so it's a doubly-good purchase!) But!!!!!! They didn't have Kaze Hikaru. I can't tell you how disappointed that made me. I was really really looking forward to reading it in the very near future. They didn't have Crimson Hero either.... So instead I got some Lovely Complex (v2 and v7, because I'd already read up to v6 online... shhhh!) and High School Debut 3 (even though I've also read up to v6 online. it's a guilty-conscience-purchase) and Gakuen Alice 3 and Monkey High! 2. It had to be five because they had a 5-for-4 deal and I didn't want to buy anything if I didn't get a deal.
So those purchases made things okay even though they weren't Kaze Hikaru. It'd been a couple years since I read High School Debut and I realized again how much fun it is. And Lovely Complex has renewed its awesomeness to me. Oh, how I love it. All the characters are just... just! I love them. I'm super looking forward to the last few (er, 10 more?) volumes of this series. On the other hand, I wasn't quite as interested in Monkey High! and Gakuen Alice. But I'll keep buying them probably. Because Gakuen Alice will probably get more interesting again (I really liked v2), and Monkey High! is just nice and refreshing and new for shoujo manga with its plain/silly guy and pretty/elite girl. It's cute :D
Yesterday we went to Schulers after church (because it's nearby and because we were going to my aunt's after, and had to kill some time between) and I was all super excited about getting Kaze Hikaru finally but GUESS WHAT!!!!! They didn't have it there either! I really can't tell you how disappointed that made me, because I was depending on Schulers having it since JAFAX didn't. But anyway I special ordered it so it should get here sometime this week and then I will just be blissfully happy!!!!
I'd been trying to hold back on buying stuff because I have to pay back school loans too. But I blew off all my nice resolutions in the face of temptation. Oh well. I'm not displeased with my decision, because it felt so nice to pile more books onto my shelves again! And I probably won't buy anything else until the two Hidaka Banri titles coming out NEXT MONTH YAY!!!!! (but I have to wait till the 29th for the best one....)
