a morning(/afternoon)

Sep 22, 2012 13:31

This is how I get things done. Or don't...

As background info, today's goals include: 1.go to the farmers market for onions, potatoes and maybe apples, 2.visit friend who makes awesome soaps to get gifts for hosts in Japan, 3.finish lettering another volume of SoreMachi (1 chapter plus some cleaning to do), 4.make hummus and three-bean+cashew chili. And this is how I started my day:

wake up at 10:15, eat pudding for breakfast
browse internet till 11
get dressed
put computer to sleep
call friend; friend has meeting at noon, will be back around 2:30
bike to farmers market, buy potatoes and onions and squash; wish to go apple picking because market is too expensive
bike back home, stopping on the way to...
pick up tiny apples from the sidewalk
grab some morning glory seed pods from house down the street that had red/pink ones
arrive home, find computer on and iTunes music playing
sort seeds (morning glory and other) into containers, browse seed envelopes and think about what I want to plant next year
go outside to look for nasturtium seeds
no nasturtium seeds; notice perennial hibiscus seedlings need to be planted
find a likely spot to plant them, but need to remove mulberry and another-thing stumps first
dig and dig and hack and chop with shovel, get stumps out!!! accomplishment of the summer????
plant hibiscus!
bring brushy stuff to back corner of yard
notice cat? poo in middle of yard (Finny got lazy? it was rainy last night...), add it to compost bucket
deposit compost bucket contents into compost pile
go inside to get water for plant
see tomato on the floor near doorway to kitchen
bring to kitchen, grumble at Josie
fill pitcher with water
head back outside-and notice Jo with a pair of earrings from my desk
go outside with water and notice another rosebush dug up. still intact, thankfully. re-bury the roots, water it
water hibiscus
back inside, give Finny his food. distract Josie from Finny's food with Josie's food
lunch for me too! back outside for basil
write out this post
catch Josie on the kitchen counter again
resume writing post
lunch - mushy tomato with basil
remember beans soaking on stove... start them cooking
nab Jo off kitchen counter and bathroom windowsill approximately 5 more times while writing post
locate catnip mouse distraction; little interest is shown
remember that beans are supposed to have water changed before cooking; change water
wrap up post so I can start on lettering!!

Okay. Now for lettering (for like an hour, before I need to leave again). At least I feel moderately accomplished, thanks to those stumps.

farmer's market, cooking, vegetables, cats, flowers, garden, lettering, soremachi, food, bike ride
