a short commercial...?
So so so!! I haven't directly said anything yet on this subject, first because I had to wait for the project to be released, and then because I just wasn't sure of the propriety of mentioning it, but I asked permission and was encouraged to go ahead... so:
I'm doing lettering for JManga now!! My first project for them was Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru, and I quite love it. It's a title set in a shopping district (like Stellar Six of Gingacho), and has that nice friendly, small-town atmosphere that I find so charming. The humour tends to be very silly and punny. The main character is a weird girl, but I find her absurd statements hilarious. I love how the artist draws the many facial expressions too. There are stories about siblings, cafe stories, school stories... an extended flashback into the childhood of a math teacher that had me doubled up with laughter (and nostalgic for long division, of all things). If you've read it, I would love to chatter with you about it! (or get your feedback on the lettering, or whatever.) So far I've just seen one review of it here. (...which wasn't quite as enthusiastic about it as I am, but I guess that's okay. thanks for trying it out, Sean!)
