neverending curse

Let's go over a brief history. You see this bee stings tag I have here on lj? It doesn't document the entire story, but it gives you an idea. I was stung as a one year old baby when I stepped on a bee, then there were the usual childhood mishaps, but then I started getting a bee sting every summer from 1999 (on my BIRTHDAY), if not earlier, to at least 2005 (I'm pretty sure I got one in 2006 and maybe 2007 too, but I think I did break free of my curse for a couple years). There was the year I was stupid and jumped on a log where some bees lived and got a sting on my ankle, the year I attended JAFAX with a swollen foot, the year I went to Cedar point with a swollen foot, the year I had to work, standing, as a cashier with a swollen foot, the year I got stung on my neck and thought I'd stop breathing (but I didn't), the year I got stung on my lip (that was the first birthday-beesting)... Well, it's September now and it's been at least 3 years since my last bee sting, so you'd think I was safe, right? The weather's gotten chill and the bees are sluggish and I don't go outside much myself. However! Today I got a bee sting, right on my bottom. Gah! Who does that?? See what comes of wearing skirts, lys?? I guess the poor thing somehow got trapped in my long skirt when I went outside to throw some vegetable scraps in the compost, and then when I came in and was about to sit down it realized it was trapped and panicked. I felt a sort of sting and shook out my skirt and it slowly dawned on me what had happened as I heard some buzzing off in some corner of my room. Sooooo this time around I tried apple cider vinegar around the sting. I've never actually found a remedy that helps-the pain may go down immediately after, but then for the next day or five it's just as swollen and itchy as anything.

Honestly, lys. Some people probably haven't EVER had a bee sting. I'm sure they wish you'd stop hogging all the opportunities.

Anyway, the good part is that I found the bee (a wee little fuzzy bumblebee!) buzzing around by my window, and managed to trap it under a cup and let it free outside (by some sedum-bees like those). I thought bees died after leaving their stinger behind, but maybe it didn't actually detach from the bee? Or maybe it takes longer for the bee to actually die? (sad thought...) In any case, at least it found freedom for whatever remains of its life. Bye bee!
